Gibbs v. Parcells

I've seen this image numerous times. I wanted to know why Gibbs gave BP the snub? I don't specifically recall what game or year this was, and don't remember hearing what led to this. (Unfortunately I only found cz.com a year ago)

It seems to me that BP is always complimentary towards Gibbs. I've never detected any animosity. I don't hear Gibbs talk about Parcells, so I was hoping some Skins fans could shed some light on what's the deal between them.

Is it something from the past wheh Parcells was with the Giants? Was it something from that game or leading up to that game??

I think Gibbs just acts like a big baby. Gibbs' record against Parcells isn't that great, add that up with Danny Boy's life quest to beat the Cowboys (remember he fired Norv because he couldn't one year), he just can't stand it when he loses, and so it causes him to act in such a manner.

The explanation is that you can't tell what happened from a single snapshot. For all we know Gregg Williams could be streaking by in his birthday suit.

That happened the first year Gibbs was brought back to Washington, against the first game against Dallas that year.

The picture pretty much told what happened. Gibbs didn't look Parcells in the face when they shook hands, which caused a only a little flak the following week. In particular, I remember Parcells, when asked in a PC, stating "He's a grown man, he can do what he wants," or something along those lines. In regards to the national media, the only one I remember commenting about it was Peter King in his MMQB that year... but I'm sure there were others.

Much ado about nothing, but certainly an odd thing for a typically classy Gibbs to do.

no question its gibbs.. the dallas defense will be good for years and the organization seems to have gotten a legit qb.

That's a great argument... respond with an answer and then provide points that serve to disprove your answer. Lets all get a good laugh out of Commanders ignorance.

I think it's Parcells... he has parlayed some great defensive play with some key break the bank free agent signings: ARE, Lloyd, Carter, and Archuleta will give them a foundation for years to come.:laugh2:

Man I can't even come up with a good argument for Gibbs other than one playoff win against an anemic Tampa Bay offense... big whoop.

I think it's Parcells...

I dont know. Parcells has done some wonderful things, but that has to translate on the field. I am not trying to bash Parcells here but you can have Pro Bowlers at every position, have a hell of a draft etc etc and it still doesn't mean anything if you are at home during the Playoffs. So, if you are looking for one thing Gibbs has done (as you stated in your post) he has had some success in the Post-Season.

As far as the original question being asked, from what I understand, it seemed like when Gibbs won, he was willing to be a little bit more gracious but when he loses, he always gave Bill the cold shoulder, so to speak when they would meet after the game.
