Gil Brandt Gaga Over Bradford's Pro Day Workout

I have a good feeling about Bradford. His physical ability is apparent, but I heard a radio interview with him awhile back and he comes across very smart, confident and has some charisma.

What I'm not sure about, and what will probably determine the type of career he has is pocket awareness and a "feel" for the position. If he has that, then he'll be great. If he doesn't, then he'll bounce around for a few years and fade away.

Like I said, if I had to predict, I think he'll be very good. I hope the Rams take him ... I don't want him ending up in Washington.

Where he ends up may have alot to do with how his career goes. For his sake I hope he is drafted by a team who has a QB in place that he can sit behind for a couple of years.

See im so confident he will flop that I hope he does end up in Washington.

He would freak out against our pass rush and Washingtons line is in shambles on top of that.

He'll get a year at most. Now days since the league has sofetened up so much Rookie QB's can contribute faster because of the lack of advantages defenses have.

On top of that you can't have a contract like that on the bench for 2 years.

Are you a Longhorn fan?

Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems Longhorn fans aren't as high on Bradford as others.

Actually I hate OU more than I like any College football team but when it comes to the draft I evaluate players from an unbiased standpoint. Including OU players.

If he is selected early in the 1st your right if he goes later part of the 1st he would get the oppertunity to sit and learn as was the case for Aaron Rogers when the Pack selected him in 2005 with the 24th pick. He sat and learned. No doubt if you go in the top 5 the money is so big that you pretty much have to get the player in sooner.

True same could be said about any of the QB's but I do not see him as fragile, the hit he took that injured his shoulder could have happened to any QB out there.

Exactly. It was just a bad injury.

Sorta like when everyone predicted Sanchez would be a bust, and he'd get injured right away with that dislocated Knee cap he suffered from in college.

I'm a Horns fan and I think Bradford is the best choice among this year’s QB's. I never base my view on where any player went to school.

I will say I was not that high on Sanchez. I think going to the Jets with their running game and the defense was a blessing for him because it took alot of pressure off his shoulder.

Same here.
I definitely pull for UT over OU, and that clearly has no bearing on my evaluation of Bradford.

He's always come across as a good kid. I'm glad to see it appears he's over the shoulder injury. I think he's got a very good chance of being a good QB in the NFL with his accuracy. I like Clausen as well, though. I think Bradford's got the most upside, but I think Clausen has a very high floor. Clausen matured a lot during his time at ND, and probably is the most NFL ready QB in the draft, which is impressive for a junior.

Watching Path to the Draft....looks like Bradford has some small hands. Could be a fumbler

Exactly.

The guy has 1) great accuracy, and 2) a great head on his shoulders. Those might be the two most important things for an NFL QB, as long as he's big enough (he is) and his arm is strong enough (it is).

I never understood why people thought he would bust.

Like you say, please don't let the Skins get him. If they miss on him and Suh (even more), I don't care who they get.

its easy to make the throws when there is no rush. The best QBs have a sense about where the pressure is coming from and move and slide away; and know when to get rid of the ball. Add to that the ability to read the D in one or two seconds top. And take the pounding of tough games and keep on maintaining their poise. Not sure how often Bradford faced a tough rush or real pressure; very few QBs in college face it anyway. That is why the selection of a QB high busts so often. THere is so much you cannot tell from college game tape and workouts.

Here's some useless trivia.

Breakdown by round selected for the starting QBs of the 32 NFL teams:

1st: 17
2nd: 3
3rd: 2
4th: 2
5th: 0
6th: 4
7th: 1
UD: 3

Some of the non 1st rounders: Brady, Brees, Romo, Favre...
Some of the 1st rounders: Campbell, A Smith, Young, Russell...

Peyton Manning is probably the only recent 1st round QB pick that I'd want as my QB over any of the other 2nd round and lower guys.

Spread offense quarterback = no thanks.
Wow! It's probably a good thing you're no NFL talent evaluator.

In any case, I'm an OU fan and have watched every one of Bradford's games. I know he definitely has the physical and mental tools to succeed (and I think anybody that thinks otherwise is either very biased or ignorant). My worry is that he'll end up getting thrown into the fire and battered around like David Carr. Plenty of QB's who had the tools required didn't make it in the NFL, so I guess we shall see.

It's pretty easy to sit here before he's drafted and say he's a bust...you have a decent chance of being right.

Bradford’s pro day workout leaves crowd in awe

Gil Brandt of NFL.com reports as a followup Sam Bradford’s workout Monday in front of representatives for all 32 NFL teams at Oklahoma’s pro day almost left me speechless. And that’s saying something.

Bradford threw more than 100 passes during the workout and, in my estimation, didn’t have one that was uncatchable. He moved around well, including throwing on the run out of the pocket, and went through the entire route tree.

It really was a treat to watch, and I think everyone here was in awe of Bradford’s performance. In fact, he put on the best quarterback workout by a draft prospect that I’ve seen since I watched a private workout Troy Aikman put on for us with the Cowboys in California.

If Bradford is feeling the effects of his shoulder injury or is experiencing any weakness, there were no indications of that. He threw with velocity during the entire workout.

I would imagine that two weeks from now, Bradford’s arm will be even stronger than what we saw. And it was very strong Monday.

Brandt= senile

By the way:

Proof that Bradford will be a monumental bust.

Pretty much says all anyone needs to know about him.
