It's one game. No doubt Pittsburgh wasn't really "up" for this game, 7-0 vs 2-6, and the 2-6 team starting their 4th quarterback, with that qb having his first start ever. Trap game, as Parcells often said. And Rothlisbergher got hurt, he wasn't near 100%. No game experience on Gilbert.
It does appear Gilbert is better than DeNucci, possibly better than Dalton due to his running and being able to escape the rush. Still, too many missed easy throws, held the ball too long at times, missed open receivers. (Gee, where have we seen that before? Basically ever qb we've had starting this year, to a greater or lesser degree). Now due to Gilbert's short time on the team, could be that he can get better at that. Dak and Dalton, veteran players, maybe not.
Really to me this game went pretty well. I wanted to see improvement, especially on defense, and we got that to a small extent. I didn't want a win, need a high draft pick. Got that. Wanted to see if Gregory could continue to make an impact, got that. Wanted to see Zeke stop the fumbles, got that. Wanted some innovations, as in the kick return pass, got that. All that is geared towards next year, obviously this year is shot, already 7 losses, not going to win all the rest.
Cowboys did better than I expected, but the end result was the same...
