Forget it people. You know you expected nothing less:rolleyes:

A true evaluator of talent. "Check out that one series" What series is that Nors? Tell us, you watched it and recorded it. Should not be a problem.

Also the scoreboard shows Hali dominating. Not Watson.
I posted a thread awhile back about the possibility of Hali as an OLB in our 3-4. I didn't see the game but was he used any time at all as an OLB today or was he strictly used as a DE? Sounds like he had a good game.....

I just don't think he has enough giddy up in his step to drop into coverage.

I'd certainly be happy with the first three picks. Ngata doesn't impress me as much as everyone says he should, but he is quite a physical talent.

Carpenter is my favorite player in the draft.

I'd love adding Klopfenstein in the third.

I think Dallas will trade down in the draft.

Unless a blue chip guy drops, I think thats a good idea.

There are a lot of guys in that 2nd round area that would help a lot. Dallas has quite a few holes yet to fill.

Agreed 100% with that statement man. Dallas has so many places they need to sure up and to add depth to it would make more sense to trade down in my opinion.

Of the LB who could help us I feel he is the most complete with Thomas Howard right behind him. I think he is the one most suited to WOLB.

Carpenter or Howard?

I see Howard as a weak side backer all the way (actually 4-3 weak side). Carpenter as a prototype strong side backer.

Tivo it - I watched Watson every play and he was dominant 90% of the game.

Check out that one series. Watson was deep in the backfield 3 or 4 other times. Blew up Croyle on half sack later and jacked him 10 yards backwards after that. Croyle's microphone went dead.

Gilles got the better of Watson once - agreed. Gilles is the real deal - not a Gurodabust.

Look at scoreboard!!!! North Dline owned South and blew them up at most every opportunity.

Watson held his ground and from time to time got some penetration in the backfield but the list on his clip board of the names he took after he kicked their @$$ wasn't nearly as long as Tamba Hali.

I like Watson, but not in the 1st

I keep calling it WOLB and I mean SOLB.

Carpenter and Howard are both more suited to that than Lawson and that is what we need.

I gotta figure out why I keep screwing that up. I know where the TE lines up traditionally and why they call it strong and weak sides. That's twice I've done that in the last month.

Scott Wright
President, NFL Draft Countdown

The following are my initial impressions of some of the players from the game.

On defense perhaps the best performance put in by any prospect on either team was that by Penn State's Tamba Hali, who had two sacks and was a major presence throughout the game. The other stud up front was Gabe Watson, who was a force in the middle and his impact can truly not be measured by stats.
The story of this game was the guys in the trenches, who really dominated their South counterparts

I agree - Hali was the defensive All Star of game. Those that watched Watson's every snap know he was far from "owned". Collapsed the middle frequently and was often in Souths backfield. (Ask Croyle who was clocked by Watson a few times second half!) North dominated line of scrimmage all in all.

Cutler played to his draft grade as a questionable top 50.
Lets hope some team wants to give us the ranch ala Losman trade and move up to 18!!!!!!!!!

Now if Wright was a REAL NFL SCOUT I might have some respect for his opinion. THE FACT that many of the longer articles about the game mentions Gilles pancaking and generally owning Watson is more then enough for me.
And I have not heard any one quoting an NFL scout as saying Watson had a good game. NOT that one game or a series of practices should overshadow his generally UNDERWHELMING career at Michigan anyway.

The play where the announcers mentioned Gilles putting Watson on his backside was complete over exaggeration on their part.

Watson stuffed the run by taking on a double team by Gilles/Cook for a one yard gain and Watson was pushed down after the RB was down.

His job was done.

He negated the two heaviest OL in the draft.

Someone else got "owned" and one of the talking hairdos caught the last tenth of a second of the play.

They did run a replay of that particular down- I TIVO'd it and watched it 3 or 4 times- GIlles did most of the work- especially the first part where he DID have Watson on his heels. My impression is that Gilles won most of the battles with Watson when it was one on one.

You should have respect for his opinion because he is right significantly more often then he is wrong.

Personally, I don't think Watson either dominated or GOT dominated, but he had a handful of impressive plays.

Net result was a one yard gain.

Watson did his job exceptionally well.

Stacked up the LOS.
