1) I'm not surprised Dallas kept two fullbacks and cut all of the tight ends other than the top two. I could have lived without Anderson, but he's a better blocker than Gronkowski right now. And Gronkowski is a better blocker than the tight ends who were cut. Won't be surprised to see Sicko or Rucker or both turn up on the practice squad.

2) After trading Crayton, keeping Hurd was important because he has shown he can contribute as a receiver ... and he's a key special-teammer. I wasn't too keen on the possibility of Holley being kept over Hurd, and was glad to see Dallas didn't make such a stupid move.

3) Would have loved to had room for Bright, but it simply wasn't realistic after he showed he couldn't handle center. I didn't expect Dallas to IR Young with a nonseason-ending injury. The only player I would have kept him over was Barron, and it never looked like Dallas considered cutting Barron.

4) Glad to see Dallas keep Lissemore along with Brent. We get some nice youth in the backup positions, and keep big men who have shown potential off the waiver wire. Next year, when either Hatcher, Bowen or Spears (or two of them) leave in free agency, we'll have Lissemore to step into a role. Might be a few growing pains with Brent rotating in, but his upside outweighs Siavii's now factor.

5) Lissemore staying probably caused Dallas to not keep a fourth corner and lean on the safeties instead, but really, were Gordon and McCann all that. I think the surprising part of it was not that Gordon or McCann was cut, but that Dallas only kept three corners. Would like to see McCann develop on the practice squad, but can't say I see him being anything more than another Nate Jones or Jacques Reeves.

6) Leon Williams and Steve Octavien were a toss-up for me. I'm not sure what exactly gave Williams the edge, but I wonder if it had anything to do with both of our backup ILBs being green.

7) Wanted Church kept real bad. I thought he was our third-best safety in the preseason, although Mike Hamlin came on strong in the final game.

8) AOA will work the slot if one of the top three corners go down. If not, then Ball will move over from safety and Hamlin will take his role. So we have five "corners" on the roster. No biggie.

1) With Anderson's court date and what Gronkowski showed this preseason, I think if Phillips doesn't go down it's Cricket that would have been sent packing. Gronkowski earned his spot.

2) It's nice to be starting a season at WR with the biggest controversy being who is the 5th one.

3) Agree

4) Agree 3 guys on a one year deal, that makes sense.

5) I think you answered 5 with 8

6) Leon Williams should probably rent. I think he was number 53 and could be subject to roster turning.

7) I thought they were going to pick McCray OR Church not both. But 7 DL, 9 LB and 9 DBs does have symmetry with the O.

8) 9 DBs 3 CBs 4 S 2 CB/S

I do think Gronkowski would have been kept over Anderson (and had it that way in my roster prediction). Garrett can get the Moose days off his mind, so he's always looking for that versatile fullback, which Anderson never showed he could become.

Gronkowski had some blocking problems, but good hands and the ability to plow for first downs in short-yardage situations made him more valuable.

The Cowboys cut to 52 anticipating picking up number 53 after the cuts.

I could see Rucker not Sicko

Why? Sicko was more impressive as a receiver in the only game he participated in, and possibly even blocked a little better.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just piggy back your thoughts thread if it's okay with you. If not, let me know and I'll delete my post.

There were only two guys on the cut list who it disappoints me to see their names there. Travis Bright and Cletis Gordon. I am a little disappointed McCann was there, but not as much as those two.

We kept 9 DBs, but only 3 are VBs. I think AOA moves back to CB. So I am okay with those kept.

I was a little surprised we kept Lissemore and Leon Williams. I don't mind though. Both played good enough to earn a chance.

I hope Teddy Williams lands on the PS. I admit it, he intrigues me. I would like to see if we can develop him. His speed is a no doubt plus. I liked what little I saw of him.

I still am really iffy on our backup QBs, but I didn't see anyone cut whom I would just have to go get. The one name that I wouldn't mind seeing on the PS is Zac Robinson. He was Dez's QB in college. I still hope Matt Nichols is given a shot to develop, but if he isn't I will not care.

We kept 5 OTs unless Brewster is going to OG or Young is going to IR. I hope we get Bright back. I just really think he was good enough to be here.

The only names other teams cut that really intrigue me are Justin Hartwig, Dezmon Briscoe, James Hardy, and Evan Dietrich-Smith. I think Hartwig fits here perfectly, but would he want to be a backup? If he doesn't I wouldn't blame him. Good player.

Edit...it will not shock me if there is still a trade in the works for Sam Hurd and he will not be here. If he is here, I am okay with that too.

Is this a joke I don't get? They kept 53.

That's fine, Hos.

I do hope we get Bright back. Gordon, I could live with or without.

I'm with you on Teddy Williams, he picked up on things pretty fast and looks like he can be developed.

I think I feel better about McGee than you do, but I wouldn't mind Nichols returning for the PS.

Haven't really went over the other cuts lists, but I feel pretty satisfied with what we have going into the season. We have a good mix of players who can help now, and players we can try to develop.

Sicko has been gone to long he was released Aug 30

and what Rucker is trash?

The Rams cut Danario Alexander too. I did not notice that before.

He's my pet cat. Him at #5 would serve my agenda.

My boss wonders what happened to him that he can't even find a place in the league. I've never watched him, so I don't know what he can and can't do.

Cutting Sicko early doesn't make a difference as far as putting him on the practice squad.

And no, Rucker isn't trash, but he also isn't a very good blocker.

Both guys have the same problem, so the question is which one Dallas thinks it can develop into a blocker. Of course, Dallas could be mad at Sicko for not coming back quicker from his concussion (might think he's not mentally tough enough or wants it enough, considering the initial problem with signing him).

Hos, I'd change the tread title to reflect that not just my thoughts are in here if I could.

Maybe something simple like "Thoughts on Dallas' cuts," unless you have a better name in mind.

I think he had surgeries on both knees. Or 2 on one knee. He could be another Malcolm Kelly.

Based on what we know, the cuts who look to be headed to the practice squad are Bright, McCann, Rucker and Holley (if none of them is claimed).

The others I'd like to see end up there are:
CB Teddy Williams
WR Terrell Hudgins
TE Scott Sicko
RB Lonyae Miller

I could live with QB Matt Nichols, WR Manny Johnson or RB Herb Donaldson making it if one of those others are claimed.

I want Dallas to forget that it drafted Jamar Wall and let him cruise on down to a Cover-2 team.

That didn't stop him from playing this preseason, did it? Of course, it could be that he's just not near the same player after his surgeries. Some never bounce back, and others need a lot of time to do it.

How about this for a pipe dream: Jerry is pinching pennies and cutting "expensive guys" so he can trade for Revis...

Huge pipe dream. That happens, we are hands down the best defense in the league. We could already be top 5 as is if we click like we should.

The way we create pressure with having 3 starting corners that in any year can be pro bowlers is some serious lock down during that pressure.

Revis would command Demarcus Ware money and is arguably the best defensive player in the league with the likes of Ware.

That's a very special player there and he's got a lot of years ahead of him.

I know we have questions about the o-line, which I think are over embellished for pre-season, but this is the type of player that could solidy a dynasty like Haley and Deion did when we got them.

Won't happen though. I'd give them Newman and Barber for him in a heartbeat and they could use both these players. This year we could suffer their bonus acceleration into the cap.

Must be really nice to holdout for a year with visions of multi-millions dancing around in your head when the fans buying your team's tickets is just hoping to keep hold of a cash flow job.

I wonder how much rust gets on a high target athlete who must maintain at a very finely tuned status to perform at quality levels? Revis is really playing with fire as to his All Time view on performance here. Does the value of his Agent really hold this kind of sway away from the playing field?

When money dominates the real heart of an athlete, I just don't want him. Hear that Hurd?

TO, the talker was issued walking papers. Greg Ellis, the complainer was issued his walking papers. Patrick Crayton, the what are you doing for ME player has walked also....
