Don't even think of saying I'm bias. :laugh2:

Top Five

1. Colts - Barring a playoff meeting, we are two weeks away from the final installment of this decades best match-up: Colts vs. Patriots, Manning vs. Brady. As a fan of the game of football, I hope it turns out to be a classic.

2. Saints - I'm not sold on their Defense at all, but that offense sure can put points on the board. Drew Brees is fun to watch.

3. Vikings - Favre can't play like this all year, can he? Jared Allen never stops on any play. This is looking like a very complete team right now.

4. Broncos - Loss to Baltimore aside, credit this coaching staff for 100% turning around the attitude of this team. Nobody thought the Broncos could be this good. Something tells me that they may end up dropping some games later this year, but they should still be able to take their very weak Division.

5. Patriots - Would love to put the Pats at #4, but they did lose to Denver so this is as high as they get for now. Wes Welker is back and Brady is getting in rythm. The Defense needs work, but this team may not be playing it's best football yet.

Bottom Five
5. Browns - They get the nod over the Chiefs because they are just a train wreck right now. Romeo Crennel was not the problem here. This organization is just inept. Hopefully their firing the GM will help, but the Brown's fans deserve much better than what they have received here.

4. Commanders - 2-5 with their only two wins against the worst in the league and bad attitudes all around. Worse, the Lions' and Chiefs' only victories of the season have come against the Commanders. Chris Samuels was a great, great player, but they knew this day was coming. No serviceable replacement on the roster.

3. Rams - So hard to grade the bottom five when most of their victories have come against each other. The Rams are pretty much unwatchable right now.

2. Lions - Unlike the rest of the bottom five, I see some signs of life with this team. The Lions are young and have some talent in their offensive skill positions. With each day a little more of the over-extended Matt Millen debacle will fade away. It may not be in 2009, but good things will happen for this team in the future.

1. Buccaneers - Perhaps lack of talent and not John Gruden's coaching was the issue after all. Write this off as a "rebuilding" year and a season of hopelessness for the Bucs and their fans.

@HoS How the Ravens totally dismantle the Broncos and yet you have the Broncos in your top 5 and not the ravens is laughable.

LOL @ DaBoys4Life being the only one of sixteen posters on this thread thus far to place Baltimore in their top five.

I dont know how anyone could say the Steelers are in the top 5. They lost to the Bengals and Bears and shouldve lost to Minn but had some lucky turnovers and a terrible call (like always) that helped them win that one. There wins came aganist a terrible Browns team, a lifeless Chargers and a horrible Titans team. And even at that, all those games were close.

In 2005, Pittsburgh was fortunate to split their divisional games with 6-10 Baltimore and was even more lucky to have beaten 9-7 San Diego. They went on to win the Super Bowl as a 11-5 regular season/5th seeded playoff team.

I think that some do not hold schedule as their primary reason for evaluating a team. I certainly don't and believe that the Steelers are better than others may first assume.

I think the Cowboys are capable of beating any of the top 5 teams in the league....but I'm not ready to put them there until they show that we're actually seeing some consistency rather than a hot streak.

The Saints are good...but I think we saw last night that they can be beaten. They narrowly escaped last night's game with a win against a team that we thoroughly dominated.

The Patriots are getting back into form.

Minnesota is impressive right now...but I fully expect them to fall off a bit. Farve is old and Peterson is an injury waiting to happen. If they last the whole season at that level it would be a miracle. For them.

Peyton Manning is a machine. I used to hate the guy, and call him overrated, but watching him guide a football team is something that our generation should truly pay attention to. He's a very special player. Funnier than hell too.

1. Colts - they keep rolling, even in what could have been what fans like to call a "trap" game. Peyton Manning is far and away the best QB in the NFL right now.
2. Saints - still rolling as well; very impressed with their defense the last few weeks although they did give up a few to the Falcons last night.
3. Vikings - Colin Cowherd said that the Packers were going to beat the Vikings "soundly" at Lambeau Field. Oops.
4. Broncos - so they lost a game...but they still have what appears to be the leading candidate for best defense of the year.
5. Cowboys - I think we've climbed up there, although there could be a 4 or 5 team tie for me, here. The Eagles have looked unimpressive the last two weeks; even in the beating they just gave the Giants they still needed the Giants to basically lay down in order to rack up some scores. They were outgained by the Commanders, and they lost to the Raiders before this week. I'm not impressed.

(if I did have a tie at 5th, it would be Cowboys, Steelers, Ravens, & Eagles near the bottom)

28. Commanders - I think they're actually grossly underachieving. Plenty of talent to be at least mediocre, but no direction whatsoever.
29. Lions - they're pretty bad, although I would give them a grade of "most improved" given how atrocious they were last season. They're competitive...just not competitive enough.
30. Buccaneers - Coach Morris needs to surround himself with some better staff. He's clearly still learning the NFL game, but isn't getting any mentorship from his coordinators or assistants. That, and their roster sucks.
31. Raiders - JaMarcus Russell.
32T. Browns/Rams - [Rams] They won, but they're still brutal. On Sunday, they had a guy pick off a pass in the endzone, run out of the endzone, run back INTO the endzone to avoid getting tackled, and then get tackled IN the endzone for a safety. EVEN though they won the game, this alone makes them the worst.

1. Saints --- Defense under Gregg Williams is aggressive and you can take chances with an offense scoring 30 per game.

2. Vikings --- The Vikes had it all except a QB and if Favre is healthy he is a solid QB at the very least. Team is good enough so he doesn't need to carry them at all, just make a few plays and he has always done that.

3. Eagles/Cowboys winner --- Look, whichever team wins becomes the head of the proverbial snake that is the NFCE. This division consistently produces top playoff performers. The Cowboys and Eags have had let downs but tough scheduling and recent hot streaks make them worthy of a lofty ranking if they can defeat the other.

4. Colts --- Very solid team but schedule has been weak and Manning has always struggled versus 3-4 teams. Will be higher for most folks then this.

5. Broncos --- Nasty home field advantage and good, consistency with running game and Orton doesn't beat them like Cutler could do at time.

28. Chiefs --- Team just lacks talent after long-time erosion and horrid drafting. Good home field and coaching staff seems willing to make tough calls and build hard nosed team.

29. Rams --- Stephen Jackson is all they have. Spagnola has to regret taking this job after seeing the dearth of defensive talent he has now compared to last season.

30. Lions --- They have a young QB now to build around but it won't be a quick job. Got in the win column and that's about all they had to shoot for this year, beyond experience for a QB who has been banged up. Good news is more high draft picks are clearly coming and no Matt Millen to blow them.

31. Browns --- Not sure what the heck has been going on in CLE the last few years but they just don't seem to add proper coaching, talent or front office people. They can get one piece right at a time but the others are tearing them down.

32. Buccaneers --- Bucs gave Dallas a fight for one half and then there season was over. Effort is now lacking and team seems defeated before they even show up.

The Steelers were not consistent in their steroid use until the playoffs began that year. ;)

They are defending champions. The Cowboys played a couple of VERY sloppy games too. They also didn't have arguably the best defensive player at times. The reason they are top 5 in my opinion is because we see that the same defense that carried them last year is still there. With the defense they have you likely won't see a high-powered team like the Vikings or Colts or Saints put up huge numbers and high scores. They excel at destroying a QB's confidence and stopping the run. As long as they do that you have to account for that factor.
It just so happens they have a good offense too.

Having said that, I hate them and hope they go to the SB vs Dallas and lose. :D

It's going pretty well, DB4L. Hope life's been treating you right.

Say, did you see where three more folks haven't put the Ravens in their top five teams as well? ;) :)

Yeah I can't complain. Yeah I saw that. *shrugs* guess I should have put 3 teams from the NFCE and the pats and colts in my top 5.
