At this point I would be happy with them hiring Mike Zimmer to be Head Coach. At least I know the defense will be in good hands and he can hire an innovative Offensive Coordinatior to rejuvenate that phase of the game. Anyone but Schottenheimer, for the love of god!!
I don't think he's interested in coaching at this point he's enjoying his honeymoon or his new wife and his new life and he's contemplating retirement why would you want a guy who has one foot in and one foot out leading your team like he doesn't know whether he wants to coach coach or retire I like Zimmer but he's not an option because he's on the verge of a midlife crisis of some sort and he doesn't know whether he wants to coach or not that's not someone I want here..

However if you wanna stay on that type of coach then we should bring in Pete Carroll they talked to him on the phone yesterday maybe he's an option maybe they were talking to him about whether schottenheimer would be a good option or whether he wanted to come here himself.. I'm all for a veteran head coaching staff with a veteran core roster that we have with a very slim opening of a window so I get your point but zimmer's not really an option right now.

And Schottenheimer was #1 as OC in 2023, so I guess he's good, right?
I don't think there's an answer to that question I think everyone here fails to see the irony and how they assume these other head coaching spots like Ben Johnson Aaron Glenn Cohen you know I know they seem like hotshot no retread rather have them than the old school but I think maybe people are getting hyped up because those names were hyped up they were on teams that were generally loaded with talent and when you can't take all that talent you had on the roster when you can't recreate the exact coaching staff you can't recreate the same exact environment there is no guarantee that any of those names the nice young new fresh names are gonna do any better than a Pete Carroll or even schottenheimer I mean I can see where schottenheimer would be nobody's choice and they're never gonna give him a chance but I don't see where there might be much of A drop off between him and McCarthy because he's been here so he knows the roster he can tweet the offense and if he gets the right coordinators I mean I think people are trying to oversell the new people and under sell the old people...

To be honest none of y'all can guarantee that those names that you wanted are gonna be any more successful and that's why I always go back to Mike McCarthy in 2020 we heard the same nonsense this was a Jerry puppet move nobody else wanted McCarthy he was retired he should never have come back blah blah blah we heard exactly the same push back that we're hearing for some of these other names but you do realize that it turned out when you wait four years and re evaluate all the hires from that cycle Mike McCarthy by far and there's not even a close second what's the best hire in 2020 he was the most successful head coach out of all the hires in 2020..

So as much as people hated the move it was the best move of that cycle so even if you don't wanna give credit to the Jones family they made the right choice that year and there's been a lot of failure since I mean people were talking about the hot names like Nick Saban and Urban Meyer and Chip Kelly and petrino at one time was a hot name and they all came and they all failed hard and fast...

That is the problem with the unknowns you do realize that right all these new first time hate coaches could all fail the same way I'm trying to tell me that those big names that came from college weren't the hot names at the time they weren't the ones going man we should've got Urban Meyer 'cause that's exactly what this place said we got McCarthy in 2020 Urban Meyer was hired in 2021 and everyone here was angry at Jerry for not getting Meyer a year early.. Trust me I remember this place had the assumption that the Jaguars were about to be headed on the way up he didn't even last a year right..
So sometimes fans need to take a step back just because the media and the fan base anoint some of these new names as the hot ticket you know they're the big names you have to interview them there the next big thing that doesn't mean they're gonna turn out to be what they're expected to do we've seen too many coaches fail.
There's a fine line between success and not success and I'm telling you that whatever happens here you need to wait just like after the draft you need to see how this cycle does three years from now we could revisit whatever Jerry chooses or whatever the Jones family chooses the coaching staff this year we will then can compare it to the other names we could have had and we'll find out later but right now the doom and gloom is saying it's gonna be bad we heard this with McCarthy and it was better than expected we didn't get where we wanted to go but he was by far the most successful hire that cycle....
So technically fans were wrong about him to a point where they thought it was gonna be terrible and right now with all the predictions being anywhere from zero wins to maximum of five wins like just because of what you think the coaching staff gonna be were already there picking predictions of a massive run of bad years it's insane to me...
