Give Wade credit

maybe you're right, and they're just silenced by the vocal minority (of said dolts).

i've been very outspoken about our staff and i do see MANY people wanting to KEEP WADE (even those who hate him) because he has good overal recoard and a new HC means a new defense or whatever.

even locally people see wade & jason as ok and romo as a "choke artist" or "blame jerry".

i think wade gets a free pass from fans because of JERRY actually

fans criticize wade but they also rip into romo, and roy and crayton and barbie and whoever made a bad play due to poor coaching that week.

imho when push comes to shove JERRY gave him a free pass and most fans followed the corporate line of consistency. i think many local cowboy fans like the grampa approach of cupcake and felt threatened by a guy like Tuna.

Cinch, if the Cowboys have another miserable December, trust me, Wade Phillips will be the most hated man in Dallas.

Tony Romo will receive a lot of the criticism because he is the Quarterback, but Wade Phillips will shoulder most of the blame.

I just don't see a majority of fans giving Wade Phillips a pass.

I have been listening to ESPN, The Fan and The Ticket and Wade Philliips is the one being criticized the most.

He also didn't seem to have any clue how to call a coverage that didn't leave Steve Smith ... you know ,the guy who caught like 140 yards on us the previous meeting ... wide open on seemingly every 3rd down.

I saw Carpenter and Scandrick in Smith's immediate vicinity a couple of times.

Look at how coaches like Coughlin and Ryan bench pro-bowlers (near pro-bowlers) to send messages while chuckles gives everybody a pass on the bus ride to the airport - "it's going to be OK kids".

everyone hates a loser after the fact but Wade shouldn't have this job, nevermind another chance (guarantee) to fail after least season.

NOW they're ripping into wade because of the NYG game. two weeks ago (and before GB) he was a defensive genius and needed to be resigned. the praise here (where there are more "haters") was SICKENING.

monday-morning QB as they say.

i agree with everything you say but imho that is a free pass so lets call it a difference in semantics :)

When is the last time Wade Phillips benched someone for not playing well?

We know from yesterday's game that Tom Coughlin started holding veteran players on defense accountable by benching them and putting in less experienced players.

Not to be extreme, but in Dallas is just seems like you can do things such as push a Position Coach (yes, it only happened once but still) or play very mediocre and you still get to keep your job.
on the nose

Outside of that Jacobs play (which you very clearly cannot blame on Wade), our defense gave up about 6.7 yards per pass play and held them to a sub-60 QB rating. That's abysmal.

And yet, WADE somehow doesn't know how to call a defense. Wowzah.

Where are you guy at?

I will give him credit for the guts to put two defenders on a TE who might go for a long one.

Wade, where did you learn this great tactic?
By the wade, Wade, the Michellin Man called and wants his coat back.

Maybe if the team wasn't 8-3 and had players playing as poorly as Osi, Wade might bench them. But the team isn't and we don't have a player playing that poorly, so he hasn't.

Let me just say this. Blame climbs the latter. In the end, there is only one person to blame. The man on top. That would be Jerry. Why? Because he hired Wade and Wade is the person in charge of preparing the team.

The Cowboys defense and and ST failed yesterday. There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. It was Wade's job to ensure that didn't' happen.

So, overall blame goes to Jerry for putting a perpetual big game failure in control.

Ummm.....I like Wade. It wasnt his fault we lost. Talk to the linebackers and secondary that all of a sudden forgot how to tackle (Including special teams).

Not Wade's fault, not this one. I support him. Any true fan would. Were not out of this thing by a long shot man.

Chill.

Agreed. This one was really on the players not performing.

My issue with Wade isn't so much about X's and O's but with his demeanor. In addition to getting a team ready to play, the head coach needs to be someone who inspires his players and demands respect. He needs to have an attitude that is infectious and motivates players to win. When I look at Wade Phillips I see a guy going through the motions, and it seems all but obvious the players treat him like a doormat.

He's become so predictable in his reactions and responses to certain situations it's as if he doesn't want to be out there. The game has passed him by but he of course is going to try and save face. He's a non-factor, a stand-in. It was the same way with Switzer, but that team was loaded with talent and players who held each other accountable enough to win a championship. This team is not.

Great. So Jerry and Wade both get credit for being 8-4 and leading the division then.

so are they both gonna get blamed when this team misses the playoffs again or goes 1 and done assuming they actually make it?

BUT!!!! We're the best walkthough team in the NFL. Is there a trophy for that?

LOL.

I'd like to hear who nyc would hire. Whoever it is, I assume we'll never lose a game again, especially a road game against a division opponent.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't.

I think that's a given. At least Wade....he already gets blamed by some out there for their water bill being to high, so anything short of at least one playoff win will be borderline suicide watch for those folks.

But yes, the HC and GM should get both blame and credit...it just seems like the the credit is much harder to get than the blame by some here. 8-4 is still very good, but it will now be tough for them to get to 10-6...but it is doable.

lets not make excuses (and no you may not be but...) Wade had all year to win this year and go farther than year's past. If Cowboy's do not win and win one playoff game, then wade and co. should be gone.

8-4 is good now but we know where we are in the standings and what it will take to go further into the playoffs. on paper, the record sounds good but on the field it is poor coaching with occasional raw talent pulling out a few more wins.

I give him credit for having this team in a position where they control their own destiny. If he fails then the odds are he will no longer be here if he can get this team into post season and do something once we are there then he has a good chance of getting an extension.
