Why is everyone giving up already? We can still take the division if the 9ers and Dallas take care of business against Philly.
I'm not giving up, but at the same time I know how this movie will more than likely end if we have nothing but road playoff games.

Not true, still would need Philly to lose another game to either NY or Arizona and Dallas to run the table. Possible? absolutely, but odds are slim. Really needed Philly to lose to either KC or Buffalo.

To be fair...if we pulled up the win loss predictions from August. Only about 5 of us posting here still have a shot at being right after the 7th win.

If we win I will be glad and if we don't make it it is fine with me too.It is just a football game.

Common opponents and conference record tiebreakers look bound to go Philly’s way. Our best chance at the division is winning out and the Eagles losing a game to NY.

Do YOU feel good about that?

Because they'd win the division. If they lose to us and San Fran to finish 14-3 and we win out here are the tiebreakers:

1) Head to head would be a split
2) Divisional record would be a split as we both would have one loss in the NFCE
3) Common games would also be a split as they have two losses in common games (49ers and Jets) and we'd have two losses in common games (Cards, 49ers)
4) Conference record - here's where we lose. We'd have two non-divisional conference losses (Cards, 49ers), they'd have only one (49ers)

So for all intents and purposes, Dallas needs to likely finish a game clear of the Eagles or have them finish with the same record but lose Giants giving us the divisional tiebreaker.
Yup, Buffalo losing last night really hurt when it comes to tiebreakers. Dallas has to win out and the Giants need to steal one game from them. It’s not over but a tall, tall task.

Did you actually use the simulator? Because if you have us winning out and the Eagles just losing to us and the 49ers, the Eagles are the divisional winner and #1 seed.

In order for Dallas to win the division, they would need to finish a full game clear of Philly or with the same record, have the Eagles actually lose to the Giants instead of the 49ers.

Yeah this really needs to be pinned at the top of the forum lol. With the ESPN playoff machine making a comeback its going to get miscommunicated a lot because Dallas will appear to be the #1 seed with Philly losing the next two games, but that is only because Dallas technically has the better division record....until Philly plays NYG twice, which they should easily be double digit favorites for each of those games.

There are some other scenarios.

For example, let's say Dallas loses one more to Detroit and finishes 13-4.

Philly loses to us, 49ers and Seattle. In that scenario we'd win the common games tiebreaker. But how likely is Philly to lose 3 in a row?

The OP didn't even use the playoff simulator correctly it appears. Because if all Philly does is lose to us and the 49ers, they win the division regardless of what we do.

Yea, there are other scenarios, each as unlikely as the next.

100% but it will be a common mistake that happens this week and potentially next. If someone only does the next two weeks all in the Cowboys favor it will show them as the #1 seed. As you fill out the rest of the weeks they'll find out that Philly needs an additional loss or they go back to the 1 seed once they beat NYG and even up the divisional record.
