Why was Glove playing DE on Sunday over Ellis??? If Canty can't go at full strength, you start moving pieces around like that??? The way Parcells is handling Ellis is embarrassing to say the least. Ellis has been having as good a season as ever. He may be undersized but is crafty enough at DE to get by. Canty may be the future but if anyone saw how he was getting moved off the blocks vs KC/Wash knows he needs to bulk up (Height does not equal strength). Glove was out of position and it showed.

First he benches his captain Ellis and tries to Jeffcoat him into just a pass rusher. BP messed around with the D-Line at the wrong time. Put Ellis back in the game and give more reps to the guy, he still has game....

I acutually agree with the orignal post, Greg Ellis leads the team in sacks with 8 and has been playing well prior to being bench. Glover was out of position and it did show. Just as bad as the Oline played the D-line played just as bad. I would rather have had an undersized constient vet. on the field then a rookie or out of positon DT. I like Canty, but it seems the D-line was playing better with the orginal rotation.

Unless you know exactly what everyones responsibilities are - the problem could also be a result of other positions such as LB or DB (Safeties included). Which is why I said what I said.

I've never seen a DL get a holding call -- much less two. WTH was that?

He got beat and tried a last ditch effort to correct his mistake by holding. It was pathetic.

Glover wasn't playing "over" Ellis. Glover was playing Canty's DE position because Canty couldn't go. Guess what, Canty can't go and you need another DE. You want Junior Glyph out there? Moving a small DT to that position -- somewhere he practiced extensively in TC was the correct move. Otherwise, you need to put Ellis in at DE for the base and then you have a hole to fill in the Nickel.

What is more interesting about this move is that asked about a month ago if he would move Johnson over to DE to get him some snaps, he said that if he needed to move someone he would put Ferguson over at DE -- because he liked what Glover was doing on the nose. Guess he doesn't like Glover on the nose so much anymore. Given what Johnson did last week we might see Glover inactive or see him take snaps at Coleman's DE position. I think we all should get used to the idea of no Glover next year.

Actually, thinking about it - it doesn't surprise me that a guy who is used to playing on the interior would draw those penalties at end. The interior line is more of a brawl where you can get away with a lot of stuff that the officials don't see.

ya.. sadly I think Glover's time here may finally be up. Its been a hell of a run, but Glover and his salary may need to move on. Thomas Johnson looked good of what I saw.

Problem is that Canty did play so it still makes no sense moving glover over...Ellis has been a warrior playing full games in the past...rest him and give him less reps but come on, how often were the Cowboys in the nickel last week against Washington...he is not getting on the field.

Glover is being phased out, Ellis too. At some point this is the reality, but when they are better then most of what you got, and you still can make a run for the playoffs, you got to play them and get them out there, especially if your new guy (Canty) is not getting full reps. If Ellis is "small" in the 3/4 at DE, what does that make Glove???

Canty did play but was limited. That's why Johnson was active and that's why Glover was rotating at DE.

How can Glover be too small for the DE -- in case you didn't notice he started at NT for much of this season.

What exactly did Johnson do besides get owned in the run game along with everyone else?

Uh, why not start Glover or Ferg at NT and let Ellis start at DE? Week 15, biggest game of the year, let's try an experiment with Glover at DE! Brilliant.

Actually Glover was playing that position in camp. BP wants to keep Ellis in on the nickel to get a pass rush out of him. He's not playing so hot against the run.

I didn't Tivo it but Glover I do not believe played much DE. I saw a lot of Canty out there and some Ellis.

Canty injury unfortunate.

We have to be better prepared on those pulling plays....
And its not like that anything new for a Gibbs run attack.

And so is any semblance of a defense in Dallas.
Glover gets to the QB 4 or 5 times a year (no running game threat) Ellis gets to the QB 6 times a year - woopie

Training Camp? Who cares about that now, we were fighting for a playoff spot. Ellis is one of the best run stoppers on the team, or did everyone suddenly forget that?

And if Ellis isn't playing so hot against the run, what the hell are his replacements doing? We've been gashed for 3 consecutive 100+ yard rushing games.

This is one of those Purcells headscratchers.
