LMAO!!! And so it begins.

You cry your eyes out when anything is even hinted that Bledsoe falls short of Christlike perfection, but Greg, Dat, Al, Keith, Patrick the "Fringe Player", and now even La' Roi are on the growing list of personas non gratas.

I see a BIG, ground-breaking trade coming, Nors. One of Jimmy Johnson magnitude in design and execution.

One in which every undersized MLB, stalwart defensive end, aging overpaid linebacker, and Pro Bowl tackle are all wrapped up in one bundle for, err, let's see..James Farrior?

Just let him be a 3-4 guy.

I'll tell ya something.

Jason Ferguson has been a favorite of mine for seven years.

But he can't hold a freaking candle to La'Roi Glover, and this defense takes just as major a plunge in competence and versatility by losing him as it does if we lose Dat.

Ridding the team, Nors, of players who CAN excel in a 4-3 does not make us better. It robs Bill of the versbatility he is trying to achieve with multiple fronts.

I am a huge advocate of Glover. Was all for having him and his ability to play 3-4 and 4-3.

He was just quite yesterday - noted it and noticed Ferguson out there more than usual. All good!

Shanle and James stepped up and nice to see Singleton off the field.

Good to see you survived the gloom attack Saturday and early Sunday. Glenn was a star!

Regards

Shanle really surprised me, very good start to the game, didnt really notice much of him in the 2nd half. Fergy and Glover played great, very good DT duo. Very promising, lets keep them both!!!!!

Shanle made a huge stop on McChunky at the 5 when he scrambled. Shut him down. Westbrook also taken out of game.

Shanle doesn't look like he'll ever be much more than mediocre to me. Which is fine, gotta have those guys too.

I haven't seen this much chest thumping since King Kong took Faye Ray up the Empire State Building.

Everything is a variation of the 3-4. Amazing.

He wasn't all that quiet, Nors. I saw some interior pressure, and McNabb felt it too.

Yeah, I survived the "gloom attack" and if you had a hint more sophistication, you'd have recognized the satire of the Chicken Little thread.

Friendly warning for ya, Norsey...don't add Glover to the list of hated players you're so anxious to run outta Dodge.

You'll find he has a full time advocate here who will more than take his part.

Don Quiote?

I'm a big Glover fan. Never once tried to "run him" out. He serves a purpose in our schemes. Great player who can bridge the gap for the young kids on the Dline that are our future........

LOL!!

What I don't get is the blind eye to versatility..to the much needed multiple fronts that dictate success in today's game.

Who freaking cares what the ratio is..how much 4-3, 3-4, 2-5, or if Bill orders Fergy to a Chinese buffet daily so he we can play a 1-6.

This notion anyone who can play a 4-3 well is a covert enemy is a riot!!!

And no, we were NOT better off w/o Dat yesterday. Specially considering how much SUCCESSFUL 4-3 we were in, :)

Good, just so we understand each other.

Like Drew Bledsoe, La'Roi at his age can indeed be considered a bridge, if one I expect to see standing and supporting for at least another four, umm, maybe even five, years.

It'll be great, tho, if we can have two Pro Bowl bridges to the future, won't it Nors?

I don't care what we play. I can't imagine anyone would care what scheme we were in yesterday. We won the game. Isn't that the goal? When being right is so important that you skew the facts and shout from the treetops it is pretty sad.

He's taking grief for it because he has trumpeted it would solve all the problems forever. Then when it didn't solve them, he was quick to point the finger at FS and say that is the issue. I never knew FS was so important in a 3-4.

His failure to acknowledge the team played well without the 3-4 is really just an effort to save face when in reality he'd save more face by acknowleding the team played well in spite of the scheme. Taking credit away from the players is wrong.

Being "right" isn't that freaking important. Especially when anyone with eyes knows the truth.

As optimistic as I was about this game......I couldn't have dreamed of it being as sweet as it was. This could been a benchmark game for the Parcells era. The Giants better be ready to play 60 minutes next week because the Boys are back on the block.;)

I agree, great day to rejoice. I question what you are rejoicing in, the win or some of your predictions? Given the topics of the threads you've started since the game ended I'd say the latter. Problem is you're off base on one really bad and refuse to acknowledge it.

No matter. Cheers.

THE FUTURE IS now.

Super Bowl run this year.

If the Boys continue playing the way they did yesterday they will have to be reckoned with.

I'm thinking the Eagles got the message if no one else did.:D

The nickle in the 3-4 is still a 3-4. It has 4 down lineman but plays 3-4 principles. I doubt the Cowboys have played a real 4-3 all year.

Care to explain? I'll give you a nudge and lets see if you know enough to run with it.

Quite frankly, a nickel defense is not a 3-4, no matter how you try to slice it.

People are spouting off how the nickel is an offshoot of the 3-4, but they don't even know the difference between the 4-3 and the nickel.

Funny, when the nickel does poorly (Washington), its the wussy Zimmer 4-3 Cover 2. When it does well, its an "offshoot of the 3-4".

Not only is the coverage different, but the assignments among the linebackers and lineman are different as well.

Parcells DID call his four man lines an offshoot of the 3-4. He was primarily referring to 4-3 over/under schemes (see Washington and Oakland).

The only "similarity" might be gap assignments among the front four. A 4-3 typically allows for a one gap penetrating tackle. So the common 3-4 principle might be that the defensive tackles both have two gap responsibilities.

Big freakin' deal. Call it what you want, I want more formations with 4 DL. Its successful.
