TE's are still developing, Witten is back only because he will be a mentor.
A $3.5 Mil mentor?

Hmm.

Whatever you have against Witten..

it is irrelevent.

No offense but I just have an opinion like you.

I believe him valuable you don't.

No biggie.

Carry on

KM better use Witten as a weapon and not a security blanket. Dak as to get over that and last year was good for that.

We just need someone who can be open in the red zone.
Yep. He may not get us more than 5 yards after any catch, but if he helps us with converting first downs and helps score touchdowns in the redzone, then we should be happy with his contribution.

witten should be awesome. he can run 6-7 yards and that's as far as dak's accuracy goes.

Witten ran the 40 in 4.65 at 264 pounds during the combine in 2003. He wasn't a burner, but the guy wasn't slow.

I had no idea Witten as going to both play and call games this season. That’ll be fun to see.

NEWSFLSASH - this 2019.
Yes...I was commenting about someone saying he was slow when he was a rookie. I completely understand that they time him in the 40 with a sundial now.

Witten had his time with broadcasting and to me, seemed relatively average and a bit bland, to be totally honest. As compared to Romo . . . well, we mercifully won't subject him to that comparison in due respect for his past contributions to the Cowboys. Sorry, but I cannot help but believe he'll be of value in contributing many first downs this year. He might conceivably afford a rookie TE and perhaps our youngsters, the necessary amount of time to develop into a TE worthy of comparison to himself in his younger days. Would that be so bad? I think not. ;)

I will just wait and see how he does in games. That is all anyone can really do. TC and PS games really won't show us much. Except how Moore may use him in his 5 plays in PS games as well as all the starters get.

One has nothing to do with the other. He needs to silence the critics about his game on this forum. He was not good as a broadcaster, he could be league MVP and not change that.

They need to cut back on that guy's caffeine intake, he bounces in his seat like a kid at times and is far too animated.

Emmitt Smith was my all-time favorite Cowboys - more than Lilly or Staubach. But he was so bad as a broadcaster that seeing people spoof his broadcasting was belly-laugh funny. Emmitt's failure as a broadcaster never diminished my respect for him as a player or a person. It just wasn't his gift.
