Im confident in 3 people with the Dallas Cowboys.

Romo, Dez, D Ware.

Everyone else I don't trust as much and Garrett is probably at the top of my don't trust list.

I think you forgot about Witten. He's only the greatest TE in team history, & will pass HOFer Shannon Sharpe this season for second place in all-time receptions for a TE in NFL history.

About an 8.

I like his philosophies and what he preaches to the team, which is essential to building a solid foundation for a winning organization. He wants guys that are passionate about the game and can be accountable. He's very organized, pays attention to detail, and keeps emotion out of decision making. These are all things I want in my HC.

I never thought much of him as a coordinator or play-caller because I thought he didn't adjust well to certain defenses, and once he became HC I didn't agree with him still carrying those responsibilities... it's just too many hats for your HC to wear. Now that he's stepped back from the offensive side of the ball I think it's going to help him with game management and authority throughout the team, we haven't had that type of strong walk around HC since Parcells... and I just personally prefer that style of coaching structure.

Again, I think he has the necessary ingredients to be a good HC and hope that he'll start to see the rewards of the seeds he's planted the past 2 seasons. He's been doing it the right way, but we all know this is a results league... this is a big year for him.

Coaching is SO overrated. Bill Belichick didn't go far at all with the Browns, but has taken the Patriots to 5 Super Bowls. The difference is that Belichick has been running the show in New England, & is an excellent talent evaluator. It's great players, plain & simple. You're a genius with them & a moron without. The Cowboys haven't had a consistently great team ever since Jones & Co. have been doing the evaluating. It's that simple.

Yeah you are right, coaches don't really matter. Can't believe guys like Lombardi, Shula, Landry, Knoll and Walsh all got so much credit for leading teams year after year. Just talent luck I guess. .................

Yeah coaching doesn't matter, any one of 500 coaches could have done what Jimmy Johnson did in his years in Dallas......sigh....

Really have no idea what the players think which is what I'd base my confidence on. But based on how well they played against good teams. 7 Need to make sure he doesn't just wet his feet here. Let's be sure he can or can't before he's dispatched.

I have very little confidence in Jason. He looks lost out there a lot. That shouldn't be.

So it's a 3!

I think Garrett can get the job done. Of course what I think matters little it all comes down to proving in when it counts. But I do support him 100%

My confidence level in Garret's Ability to be a successful coach is high - I do beleive that he is still developing in the role as head coach so due to his limited experience he may not rate as high overall as some veteran coaches would on a scale 1-10 as a current rating based on performance.

I think it is obvious that the first priority since Garret took the job has been to change the culture of this team and to purge the roster and replace it with youth and what he calls RKG. So IMO he has been doing just that - so it is more appropriate for me to rate him on whether or not he has accomplished this goal.

I will give him no less than a 9 on a scale of 1-10 in this regard.

Next priority is to implement his offensive philosophy and coach his team to execute it efficiently.

Based on how he has accomplished the first priority I expect that he will be able to do the 2nd with success so I am confident that he can do this, on a sacle of 1-10 i would say a rating of 8;

Another area is Game Management - This is where a lot of fans criticise Garret. Truly, i dont think he had quite the peices to have success the past 2 years and I beleive it was reported after midseason in sturms blogs during the year that the cowboys were only having some success with 2 formations. That will certainly limit your play calling. I think the cowboys were trying to cover up their weaknesses as best as they could and stay competitive but did not have the personnel to do so. That should be expected while a team is retooling. I think that Jerry and Garret agreed to take their lumps so to speak while putting a priority on changing the culture of the team. I think it will be fair to take a good look at Garrets game management skills this year and I expect he will do well in this area. My expectations are based on the type of personality he has shown - a type A stress person with big emphasis on discipline and fundamentals and leadership. Those types are usually very detail oriented and good with time management and situational awareness. I am confident that he can be a better than average "game manager and strategist" when given the assistance and tools that he needs.

Overall I am grateful that he is the current head coach for the cowboys and think that he is bringing exactky what this team needed.

3. I think Jerry Jones continues to undermine and clip his wings in every way possible. I don’t see how Garrett could be successful under that type of format. That fact Garrett would allow that makes me question him as a head coach.

Jerry has his quirks but this assumption that hampers a coaches chance to win doesn't hold that much water when you see Parcells come in and turn the roster over and now Garrett turn the roster over too. These coaches get what they want.

I agree. I think Garrett is very capable of working with Jones.

If you've watched the Dallas Cowboys win Championships then you know in the NFL, athletic, talented and fast players tend to win football games......but you can't discount the Leadership of a Belichik, Johnson or Landry.

It holds gallons of water. Parcells has a strong personality but even he could not win with Jerry. It’s not just about the roster either. There is a lot more to it.

Perhaps you mean Parcells was not able to win as much as he or most of the fans would have liked. If you recall Jerry was the one on the leash unable to comment about the club. It was Parcells who was the face and voice of the organization during his tenure. And you have both Jerry and Parcells as well as others involved who say Jerry wasn't dominating anything. In fact it was Parcells who reorganized the scouting department and made other changes that this organization still basically follows.

Rewriting history is fun but not necessary. Jerry makes enough mistakes without adding to it.
