Good car for a teenage girl

If not new, only one or two years old.
The new 2016 and newer Honda Civics look great, especially for a younger person, and they get solid gas mileage. While I am sure it's tempting to want to buy a new car, I would look for a used car of some kind with 10-15,000 miles on it so you can avoid the instant depreciation and also reduce the stress if she wrecks it or it gets dinged or scratched a little. If you buy from a dealer they will usually do a full check-up on it on top of the existing warranty.

She may be a great driver, but there are a plenty of distractions for young people these days with phones and upgraded computer/radio systems in cars, so may not want to hand her a brand new car at the start.

I agree, we can get her a new Civic for 170 a month, but I'd rather get her something in the 10 to 15k range and not finance some can just get liability insurance. The insurance payment is a killer

I was shocked how much cheaper GEICO was than Allstate when I added a teen to our coverage, btw.
Good to know. I've been with State farm since 84. They are pretty pricey. Might be time to shop around.
