Good Obscure Beer

there is a gasthaus/biergarten next to me that brews its own beer both dark and light and people come from all over the place to drink it... but for the life of me I can't remember the name right now. lol

Three Philosophers

+1.

I'd add Consecration from Russian River as something related ... if you can find it.

My favorites. I like Double/Imperial IPAs

Pliny the Elder
Majarajah
Double Dog
Green Flash Imperial

that is freaking on tap everywhere

Stella Artois is not as obscure as it used to be since Budweiser bought it. Ya'll should check out the documentary "Beer Wars" if you haven't already. It's about micro-breweries vs. the big guys. Very good film!

If you can find it out your way, try something from Unibroue breweries (from Quebec). I'd suggest:

Fin du monde
Maudite
Blanche Chambly

one of my favorite American breweries for Belgian style. Them, Ommegang, Allagash, and Russian River really bring it.

Love the Hoegaarden. Goes down nice and easy, too!

Thumbs up for Who-Garden.

First had it when I was in Belgium last year. Pronounced it like a ******* American and got laughed at.

"Yes, I'd like a Hoe-Garden" Bar maiden looks around and says......"Hoe-Garden, okay" and then giggles as she fills my glass.
