Goodell: Nothing new to report on Spygate

so there is evidence that they at least taped a game against the Chargers. they were disciplined for the game against the jets but there is no new information.

Spectre needs to step in and Goodell needs to step down.

I'll give you this, you're persistent

All this posturing and delay from Walsh to turn over the tapes in the first place and Goodell's 'investigation' revealed nothing vital?

I don't understand why people are saying no new information came to light. Did Belichick admit to Goodell to sending a spy to the Rams walkthrough last September? If not, then that's new information, and the Pats should be punished further. Just because there's no tape doesn't mean it wasn't against the rules.

They are not going to take any Championship away. This story is older than old. If you want to personally take the championship away in your own mind - have at it. If you want to put an asterik next to the Pats - have at it. I think they are scumbags too.........it is what it is..............I'd rather concentrate on the Cowboys.

Carry on . . .

Understood and agree.

But...

They do take Gold Medals away.

From what Wingo/Schlereth/Carter were saying, this doesn't classify as "new" because Belichick already said that the recordings might go back to like 2001.

I am sorry to bring this topic up again. It kind of hit me what Spygate reminds me of.

Geraldo Rivera's TV special about opening Al Capone's vaults. A lot of hype, with an empty promise.

In the words of William Shakespeare, much ado about nothing.

The tapes he provided were already reported as being duplicates of the ones Goodell got, originally, after the Jets game and destroyed. Thus these are NOT new, they're rehashing what he'd already seen.

Nothing new to punish them on unless you were hoping he'd punish them a second time for the tapes he'd already seen previously.

Again, move on. They cheated. They were caught. They'll cheat again, as does every team in the league, I have no doubt of this, in some form or fashion.

To believe that the Pats are the only team trying to gain a competitive edge via breaking rules is beyond niave.

What I want to know is who was the source for The Boston Globe story saying the Pats taped the Rams walk-through?

Walsh's attorney said his client never claimed to be the source and wasn't the source. It's interesting how the media and the NFL keep saying there is nothing new yet we still don't know who was the source for the Globe story.

That's the juicy information I would like to know.

Given the fact they are printing a retraction exactly aftere his testimony is done I think he was the source but they probably ran with hearsay rather than talking to him directly.

He sure didn't earn his 15 minutes of fame did he?

My thoughts on "Spygate" are simply this: The Patriots cheated, were caught, and were punished. Does this tarnish their legacy? Absolutely. The fact that the information may not have directly helped them win a Superbowl is not relevant. Bellicheck lied and will likely lie again, if given the chance.

I remember it going something like this:

  • The Pats may have cheated during Jets game
  • But thats it just for that one half and it wasnt used during that game
  • Its not a big deal there was no advantage gained
  • They were saving it for the 2nd time they play the Jets
  • Well, hey?! Did they cheat before
  • "If the Patriots arent cheating, they arent trying"
  • Over the years many have said "its like they knew the plays"
  • Well they are so good they dont need to cheat even if they do
  • Have they won SB's because of cheating
  • blah blah blah
  • Lose a SB when you cant cheat
I know ALOT were defending them as a one time incident with the Jets... but this thing is alot more involved than we will ever know.
