How many rushing yards will they net against Dallas?

As I have stated before, I hope Rod Marinelli focuses his front seven in stopping the run first. In my opinion, they will be tested on the ground a lot even if he can get maximum effort out of his crew. Even with Rolando McClain manning the mike, I expect the San Francisco to attack the interior of the defensive front with Frank Gore often and reduce any speed advantage Dallas' linebackers might enjoy outside the tackles. Our secondary will be playing well if Colin Kaepernick doesn't get into rhythm with his receivers, but that should motivate him scrambling more (unless we're getting zero pressure on him 3 - 5 seconds after the snap).

They will run run run and all of a sudden boom goes the dynamite as they launch the long bomb.

This could very well be a high scoring game with the unknown nature of both defenses right now.

I know I will play these guys in fantasy this week on my teams without an absolute dominant QB or two great RBs
Gore is a lock to score at least once, imo.

As long as we score more than do, I'm fine.

That is my big concern is how the defense holds up vs a quality running team like SF. If SF can run effectively then it does set us up for the big play down field.

Isn't this defense supposed to funnel plays to the inside?
If they do, and contain Kap, and have some success against the running game, as I don't expect them to completely shut it down. Then that is their chance to make a few big defensive plays. If Tony & Co. can score, and score about everytime they have possession, then things could work out well.

if Dallas has to score every time we have the ball then we will not win many games. Defense will have to step up and make plays.

I guess I should has phrased it better. I did say score "about" everytime they had the ball. But I was thinking to get and maintain a lead. Let the defense do what they are supposed to do. But they will not stop SF every drive. Just stop them just enough to allow the offense maintain a lead, and score enough not to put the defense at risk. Or too much of a risk.

And it would not apply to every game. but certainly the teams with more high power offenses

True enough, but the scheme is highly dependent on the defensive linemen maintaining their lane/gap assignments while pushing upfield. Holes (sometimes huge) develop when lineman gets outmuscled out of their assignments. We need the linemen disciplined enough to maintain their positioning in retrospect with each other, especially if they cannot fight their way to the quarterback.

Even if the Cowboys defense plays well. I would still think the 49ers could get over 100 yards rushing. They have a running qb and a good rb.

It would be real nice to see the Dallas Offense come up out actually firing on all cylinders and try to pick up a quick lead. If they come out and struggle until half time then its going to be a long game and a long season.

Let em run all they want but force them to bring fieldgoals to a touchdown fight!

I fear our run defense is going to get destroyed, bro's.

However, we'll get a stop here and there and once we build a 2 score lead they'll start throwing the ball, so it won't look *as bad* as it could possibly.

I think they'll rush for ~150, but we pull out the win.

I'm starting both of them in my fantasy league, Gore over Demarco. So Yeah, I'm guessing they are going to torch us.

I'd be more worried about Vernon Davis than anyone else.

If our defense cannot get a pass rush & they have time to throw to him watch out.

I'm hoping for solid open-field tackling for all four quarters. If they are chewing up yards, so be it. Just as long as we get them on the ground before crossing the goal line.
