Gosselin: If Cowboys mention Super Bowl, don’t listen

I want a team that thinks we have to win the Super Bowl or the season is a failure. Being satisfied with a little improvement is a losers mentality. Demand nothing less of yourself than a ring and demand nothing less of your team mate than the all out effort for a ring. If your expectations are anything less than being the best, then you will never be the best.

Heck, if they just get a handle on the false starts we would likely make the playoffs. Seriously, if this team as a group just reduces mistakes, the sky's the limit.

Yep.

Or at the very least it'd put a huge dent in the loss column.

Shooting themselves in the foot seems to be protocol, almost.

Frustrating as hell.

So what is their goal supposed to be? Are they supposed to say, "we want to make it to the Wildcard". Or "We'd like to be co divisional champs and then lose in the first round"
The stupidity in this article is this. If some brilliant reporter ask the question about their long term goals, should they just walk away and say they don't have an?. If the question is asked to ANY player or anyone else that has a brass position, the SB is going to be the answer!!! If you don't want to hear the answer, then tell all your "smart" buddies, not to ask the stupid questions!!!

In some cases that would be the extent of it, in many cases the mistakes/penalties are the result of the player trying to compensate for his limitations.

If the Cowboys did not mention the hope to get to the Superbowl then they would be a bunch of losers. I have no problem with a team that has the talent they have to be talking about the desire to get to the Superbowl. Sometimes things come together for a team before you expect it. I always go into a season hoping for a Superbow;. If I did not, I would probably not watch football!

The sad part about that 130-126 record is that most of those players are from Jimmy and Parcell teams. That's the only reason why that record is above 500. Sad

I just don't get that Parcell's gets a pass for being a part of the mediocrity of the past 15 years. Were his Cowboy teams a more impressive mediocre than the others? Granted his first year was a good one but so was Wade Phillips. His banter worked short term and then he lost them.....again, just like Phillips. Better talent acquisition? Maybe a little but not that much better. I think Garrett is doing a better job of that already.

Every team has season long goals..If ANY team in the NFL was not hoping to, and working towards going to the SB when the season began, they should not be playing...

He's got a point. The Cowboys problems over the past several years is that from the top down there's a feeling of entitlement. Jerry gets most of the blame for this. The players have a sense that they are much better than they actually are because of it. This needs to stop because their record since their last Super Bowl win in 96 is 130-126. Jerry needs to set the example.

That's cause Jerry thinks like a fan and not a GM. Every year he gets excited like the rest of us, and just starts spouting off at the mouth about Super Bowl this or that. He may also be trying to sell the fans in to attending every game although the organization doesn't deserve it.

Look at how Parcells set up the team after he left. They were one of the youngest teams in the league at that time, they were talented and Dallas had a solid salary cap. He changed the direction of the team. He wasnt perfect but he had a vision. Keep this in mind, some of his players (in key positions) are still on this team. That speaks volumes.

Parcells never had a QB. Even Romo in 2006 wasn't the same guy he is now or was in 2007.

People who bash Parcells without taking into consideration that he was handed Quincy Carter and asked to win are willfully ignorant.

so dallas' ultimate goal for 2013 shouldnt be a superbowl? just like 31 other teams ultimate goal are?

wasnt it Parcells who had virtually the same team wade had 1 yr later and went 13-3? wasnt it parcells who chose marcellus wiley chad eaton and tyron williams over bertrand berry and antoine winfield? who both were in dallas ready to sign but left after deals werent offered?Parcells blew his own chances

SB favorites don't often win the SB but they often get deep into the playoffs; if they make the playoffs which isn't a given. So it's better to be a favor

Teams should have primary then secondary then tertiary etc goals. Every year Landry would set team goals and their first goal was to always win the East. Then the conference then the SB.
