Point taken, but would have been ready much earlier in the season if there weren't issues behind the scenes?

At this point we have no idea how badly the guy was hurt... or what sort of rehab he was doing or not doing on his own since it didn't seem to be monitored (or allowed to be monitored) by the Cowboys' training staff.

Ratliff has been a beaten up declining player for years. It was a mistake to count on him in the first place.

Gosselin is an idiot, but I guess that changes based on the old agenda huh?

But the posting of it as proof does say a lot about that agenda.

And people using injuries as an excuse do not have an "agenda"?

Gosselin utilized very simple facts. This was not an opinion, it was not an editorial piece.

No, Dallas did not lose the most starters due to injury contrary to what has been whined about all season long.

But hey, I think he is an idiot, so his factual article is just dismissed. And if you excuse me, while I am at it, I will just change the parameters to fit my own "agenda" and just sit with my arms folded, my lower lip poked out and just insist that Dallas' injuries were so much more profound than everyone else's.

That is a real "agenda".

Granted.

Hayden was (according to one source) the 2nd-worst DT in the NFL.

I can't imagine that Ratliff would have been as bad or worse.

Green bay was 8-7-1 only an idiot would say injuries didn't contribute to that record and then put it in an article.

Yes , I have an agenda...it is anti-football ignorance. I get plenty of material to work with around here.

He still was never going to be the player that they believed he would be. The fact they went with about as nondescript defensive tackle like Hayden all season is more of an indictment on our ability to evaluate the roster than it is about an injury. Kiffin, Jones, and whomever else thought it was a smart idea to count on Ratliff to be what this system needed blew it. Without question.

And the only reason that record got them in was Detroit finished 1-6.

To use the same kind of flimsy excuse, one of the only reasons we had a chance for yet another loss with the division on the line in the final week was because the other two teams in the division were a combined 10-22.

If the defensive front is addressed in much the same manner as it has been recently, I would expect injuries to once again become a headline staple in 2014.

Did either of those teams have the division lead before losing 6 of 7? Didn't think so.

A loss is loss, whether it came as a result of falling apart to close the season or winning one game and losing the next.

Ah, by this metric then all players and team personnel are created exactly equal.

Injuries aren't an excuse, they're a primary reason why this team performed poorly, including other areas.

How many UDFA and street free agents did GB and these other teams have starting for them?

If people would quit stop being so butthurt and actually learn to think objectively, they'd see that injuries had a significant impact on the underachievement of our defensive unit for the main reason that our depth and talent was, quite frankly, poor. That speaks more to player acquisition (Hello Jerry) than it does to "making excuses."

Don't let that stop you from believing that our coach singlehandedly ruined everything though. Ignorance is always amusing.

Gosselin: Injuries are no excuse for another mediocre Dallas Cowboys season

Injuries can be an explanation for the mediocrity of the Cowboys in 2013.

But not an excuse.

Injuries are part of football, and the Cowboys certainly suffered their share. Every team did, in fact. The NFL lost a record 1,600 games by starters because of injury this season, including a record 861 on offense.

The Cowboys lost 62 of the games, including the pass rush of Anthony Spencer for 15 of them. But other teams were battered by injuries — even more critical injuries — yet played on into January.

The New Orleans Saints lost 61 games by starters, including a league-high 53 on defense. Two projected starters in new coordinator Rob Ryan’s 3-4 scheme — end Will Smith and inside linebacker Jonathan Vilma — never played a down because of injuries.

Yet the Saints still finished with a top-five defense, posted an 11-5 record and won an opening-round playoff game last weekend.

Jerry and Jason are both glad we had all the injuries. They both know that if they were being honest, our injuries are just a HUGE SCAPEGOAT!! Answer a question for me please. Which player were we missing that would have made a difference in any of the games we lost? How did we do when those players played in the other games?

The pretend Jay Ratliff would have made a difference, no question.

The Ratliff before the contract was ever signed, agree. But "the rat" really hasn't been effective for at least 3 years.

I'm betting those "Games Lost by Starters" doesn't include the games Ratliff didn't play due to his hissy-fit. That's one of your starting DT's who was counted on to contribute from the get go and in turn contributed to the chain-reaction of cluster-***** along the defensive line.
What about Crawford? Bet not.

No agenda, just facts...............I didnt even post it dude, I am just replying to Gosselin writing an article that is almost word for word what I have been saying for weeks.

We were not the only team hit with injuries, if you would have read the article it said 1600 starts were lost across the NFL this year due to injury.

Seriously dude, if you are so much smarter than everybody else...........what the hell are you doing on a message board instead of working for an actual NFL team?
