I am somewhat shocked.

Gosselin is, of course, not saying the Cowboys are favorites to win anything. But he is really giving Wade credit. Says he's one of the best, most respected defensive guys out there, and is as good as it gets on the 3-4. Actually thinks we have a playoff-ready defense right now -- that's what other teams he has talked to are saying as well. And he claims that Wade will make stars out of some of our LBs, even including Bobby Carpenter.

He actually said the concerns about our team from both him and other teams are concering our offense. They aren't sure if Romo is for real, if our O-line will be productive, or if our older receivers can stay healthy.

But he had props for our defense and for Wade. I think I need some smelling salts.

Our offense was top 5 IIRC in scoring and in total offense.

Defense was the problem last year. If this gets fixed within one year, we could be poised to have a great season.

I'll wait and see first before I proclaim anything. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't cautiously optimistic.

Its cool to see some eyes starting to open. Its predictable really because of that run Romo led this team on prior to the December brick wall. There is too much reality in that run to simply dismiss this team without a 2nd thought.

I know some people are hedging on Romo a bit. But I think they'll also get on board really quick if he plays well early.

I'll go one further and say that I am fully expecting this team to be as serious a contender as anyone in the NFC.

I'll be disappointed in anything less.

I don't have many doubts about our offense. Maybe if both WRs were hurt, we'd suffer... But even then, Witten would pick up a lot of that slack.

And I think Romo will be fine -- maybe less than great, but still very good.

I was just surprised that other teams expected our defense to be very good -- Gosselin said it alone could carry us to the playoffs. And once again, his info comes not from his own evaluation, but from other teams. (And the trips he's made so far have been to Philly, New York, Washington, Baltimore, and Chicago -- so those are rivals and/or good teams.)

I guess I expected more doubt about our actual players on defense after the collapses of the last few years.

Oh, and BTW, he said the most complete team in the NFC he'd seen was the Bears. Best team overall was the Ravens.

Most of them probably realize it had more to do with scheme than anything.

Ravens the most complete?

Can't see it.

I want my offense to open up the Defense, with a Downfield presence. That will help with pressure off Romo.

So, does Romo have the arm to make them spread? If he does, our run offense will excell, as well as pressure on the QB, due to a DB backing off for the deep pass.

No kidding. They have zero receivers worth a damn and a washed up QB. Their running game will be pretty good, but it won't be enough to keep the offense afloat.

Expect another 15-6 loss in the playoffs.

Plus they lost one of the key cogs in their pass rush.

Worried about the age of our WR's and injury then goes on to place the Ravens as best overall. The Ravens are completly relying on old man Mcnair offensively. He gets hurt, and it wouldn't take much, el finito.

I gotta disagree on the WR's part.

Clayton had 939 yards and 5 TDs last year. Those are pretty good #2 WR numbers. And Williams should be a pretty good #3 WR for them next year. He averaged 18 ypc for them last year and will provide them a nice deep threat to open things up for them. Mason as a #1 isn't all that impressive; but they have some talent at the position.

They aint the Vikings/Titans at WR.....they are pretty solid.

Ravens best. Bears most complete. I can't see the Bears, either. They've got a complete defense, but that offense has a lot of questions. Including QB and RB.

Ravens I think are a dark horse contender again this year. If you can be a dark horse after the year they had last year.

Well, until we have some idea about how productive the OLB opposite Ware is going to be, it is premature to say this defense is going to be a force.

And then there is Hamlin - maybe Seattle's castoff turns out to be the magic answer for the Dallas secondary, but I want to see it before I assume it.

18 YPC sounds great and all, but when it's only on 22 catches for 0 TDs it's nothing special. Basically they have two average #2 receivers and a #3.

The point of the 18 ypc comment was more to point out that the Ravens will use him to stretch the field this year more so (I am assuming).

Anyway, your quote was that they have zero receivers.

I disagree(d) saying that they have a good #2 WR, what I think will be a good #3, and Mason (although not a good #1 WR; but a solid veteran WR).

Now, if you wanted to say Minnesota had no receivers, by all means....

The comment was that they were the "most complete" team. I took issue with that statement.

Looks like, by your own admission, they're not "complete" at wide receiver.
