The problem with Goose's draft grades -- and it is a HUGE problem -- is that it doesn't matter to him which picks you have. The ONLY thing that matters is the average score (based on his rankings) of the players you drafted. So, if the Commanders had drafted Jimmy Clausen with the fourth overall pick and traded all of their other picks for Alan Faneca, Goose would have given them an A+. Why? Because their average pick would have been ranked 13th on his board.
For the same reason, teams that don't have picks in the early rounds (such as Chicago this year) will never score high using his system, even if they get all bargains the rest of the way, because they don't get any of his top players. Chicago's BEST pick ranked 89th on his board, so to him, they didn't do a good job of drafting. Never mind that they didn't pick until the third round.
Just look at the average pick number for each team, and you'll have a pretty good idea of the grade Goose will give them. For us, having only two of the top 125 picks made it virtually impossible to get anything higher than a C from him because of his asinine grading system.
However, anyone who claims that Goose is nothing special when it comes to his top 100 and mock draft has no clue what they're talking about. His top 100 has been the most correct EVERY SINGLE SEASON since THR started tracking them in 2002. Only one time has anyone ever even tied him, and nobody has ever beaten him. Mock drafts are a more inexact science, but he's still a two-time champion, has the highest average and is almost always in the top 10 out of about 90.
