In our situation with the players we've lost, we may not have a choiceBecause you cant count on rookies to have an immediate impact. Thats not how you use the draft

hey you're, right, doesn't matter!!They will sign more jags to fill spots. They do this every year
Did we get any quality starters from last year's draft?
That's what happens when you trade players, which we don't do and/or give them away for nothing. They always seem to high many picks in the first 2 rounds.

Depends. Last year our first round targets were Mazi and OL Bergeron. KC offered their 1st and 3rd to move up to 26. Jerry turned it down because he was afraid we'd miss on our targets. We would've moved down and at least been able to get Bergeron since he ultimately didn't go until early 2nd. Would've been a win since Mazi looks like a bust.No it’s not. Like you said, too many holes to fill in one draft. There won’t be a plethora of extra 2/3 rd picks gained from a low first round slot. I would rather fill a few with good players than a lot with average to subpar gambles. Dallas needs better players…..
They also received the Steelers 4th. Overall they moved down 22 spots.Eagles traded their 3rd for Pickett!
You know what they say about hindsight……Depends. Last year our first round targets were Mazi and OL Bergeron. KC offered their 1st and 3rd to move up to 26. We lost our 1st and 3rd by trading for WR Roy Williams. We then traded out of the 2nd for a 3rd and other later pick. There were some good players later in the first round like Clay Matthews, Hakeem Nicks, Percy Harvin and Michael Crabtree. In the second round was Jairus Byrd and LeSean McCoy. There were others that would have been better than what we ended up with but we didn’t have a pick until the third round. That’s what helped screw that draft up. No team that year had as bad a draft as we did. It helped lead to four straight seasons missing the playoffs.
True, but the consensus had both Mazi and Bergeron as 2nd rounders. The odds were at least one would still have been there at 31, maybe both. You know what they say about hindsight……
Dallas can’t be scared of another Mazi, they need a day one OL starter and that isn’t happening if they trade out of the first.
That 4th is 120 which isn’t in the top 100, what the OP was responding to!They also received the Steelers 4th. Overall they moved down 22 spots.
Just mentioning it wasn't just a 3rd, which is only pick 98 by the way. That 4th is 120 which isn’t in the top 100, what the OP was responding to!
Roy Williams was in decline but Jerry got desperate trying to add some punch to the 2008 season. Practically everyone was picking the Cowboys to go to the SB prior to that season and Jerry thought adding Willams would put us over the top but it backfired. It set us up for a terrible draft. We lost our 1st and 3rd by trading for WR Roy Williams. We then traded out of the 2nd for a 3rd and other later pick.
Both were poor decisions which is typical for Jerry. But what tanked that draft was trading for Roy. Horrible GM.
Yeah, Jerry has a history of bad decisions.Roy Williams was in decline but Jerry got desperate trying to add some punch to the 2008 season.
