Grade our first round!

Downs - A++++. In such a weak class, I thought there was no way he'd be there. Impossible to have a better pick.

Lawrence - B. Good scheme fit, went in the right range, good athlete, all that. It's a solid and logical pick, but nothing that blows me away.

Well let me ask you this are they playing a game I didn't see on the schedule tomorrow Are they even playing a pickup game or they even have a practice schedule it seems like some kind of organized game of any kind tomorrow so they don't need to stop the run or sacked a quarterback but I'm betting if they had to I'm sure they could..

If you think that somehow they can line up eazy E and Gary and then bring in Houston But manufacturer sacks is what you would do with guys like Downs and overshown..

Think it's silly to talk about that that's the worst narrative ever when someone comes back but yeah but they're not ready for game 15 months from now that's what you're saying like we're supposed to be ready when there's six rounds left in the draft and a whole bunch of free agents left and probably a trade to happen at linebacker we could have Brooks and Clowney in here in a couple of weeks..3

But the drafts not even done.. But were the right scheme yes they can manufacture sacks you don't have to have a guy like Parsons but you need to write scheme and the right mind and at least we change out our coaching staff which is gonna be better than last year just by default and take away the injuries it's gonna automatically be better so yes if we had to play a game tomorrow I'll bet we can find a way to get a sack You manufacture sacks manufacturing pressure is a thing that apparently Matt Eberfloos didn't bother wanting to try it too often..

But let me reiterate the first game in September is a long ways off five months give or take a few days right big free agent list that has not actually been touched in about three weeks the whole entire NFL's been in a holding pattern so all those guys are still there clowny still there These trade ideas are still there I still don't understand why we have to look at this like a complete roster before the first OTA..lmao
Why do you love to stick it to anybody who makes comments about this type of thing? It was a fact-based comment with no secret attack on the team intended. Everything to you is this: everything that is contrary to you is silly. Believe it or not, some of us like to talk about the now so simmer down with the narrative

I’m honestly torn. If you look at the draft as a concensus, we got a home run in Downs. I doubt he will be a bust and he is a relatively safe pick with high upside. So if you look at it that way it’s an. A+ draft just based on Downs alone.

Lawrence, the team obviously liked. I predicted that the Cowboys would take. DE early, even forcing the pick, if necessary. Based on the concensus board Lawrence was picked about 20 picks too early.

I think the Cowboys could have traded down a little again and still got Lawrence, but I think all of the DEs will be drafted a bit earlier than expected so I understand.

The opposite side of this coin is that the Cowboys need numbers. Trading down was super enticing. Would be interested to know if they had a trade down offer at 12 or 23.

The bright side of this is that Jerry didn’t panic and trade WAY up. Credit to him for that.

I also believe that Parker is putting his prints on this defense and that’s got to be an improvement over what we have had. I’m willing to give the Cowboys the benefit of the doubt. Interested to see what happens the rest of this draft.

Need linebackers.

Not really liking the Lawrence pick there. Def seems like a reach. And if we were having to stay at #23 would've rather got Rodriguez or Allen. Don't like going forward in this draft without a LB yet at all.

It's a constant thing with him, I usually get to line one and stop reading. Line 1 tells you enough of where he's going, so I scroll on!

A+

Downs was my favorite player in this draft and is the perfect fit for CP's defense. It could not have gone better for this pick.

Lawrence seems like a solid bet as an edge and at least a situational rusher for now. We managed to get two fourths to trade down and likely would have lost out on Lawrence if we moved past 27.

Definitely an A+ from me.

Best overall player in the draft that can QB the D for the next decade, and a high upside EDGE that they really like and think can help the D.

If we land Rodriguez or Allen or trade for Brooks, the D will be looking really, really good

What do you give us for a grade?? Clearly it's an A, what's not to like about this first round??
I don't know about a grade because I'm not really a college football guy.
That being sad I'm happy this morning.
Although I wish we still had our 2nd rd pick for tonight.

A minus. I think they could have traded down again and still got Lawrence. Still, how can anyone complain about 2 guys that will help big time?

I feel you on that I don't watch it either, when it's draft time that's when I look at these players

I think the same logic that applies to the Downs pick applies to the Lawrence pick. If he is your guy, do what you need to do to get him. The obviously liked him a lot and so you take him. Nice to get a guy many talk about as being the best player available at #11…feels like a steal. You then get a guy that fills a need and is projected to be at the very least a solid pass rushing DE right out of the gate. And he is a physical freak checking off all the boxes for his position. And we got two extra 4th rounders.

A+ for Downs because he's a stud
A for Lawrence because he's solid, but they got 2 4th picks for dropping 3 spots.

Still want to add another pass rusher and a vet MLB. And they'll look great at least on paper.

I always keep an eye on the mock drafts after the season to brush me up, basically crib notes, on the top of the draft.

Then about a month before the draft I kinda start watching videos on who we might get. By the week before I'm basically Mel Kiper. Lol.
