I think the draft picks used on veteran players should be added in to that year's draft. Otherwise where did those picks go?

So feel free to add in Brandin Cooks, Stephon Gilmore and Johnathan Hankins if you want. Or don't, if you don't agree with me. It's your call.

If you want to add a + or - to your grade post it in the thread. Too many options for a poll.

1(26) Mazi Smith DT Michigan
2(58) Luke Schoonmaker TE Michigan
3(90) DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas
4(129) Viliami Fehoko DE San Jose St.
5(169) Asim Richards T North Carolina
6(178) Eric Scott Jr. CB Southern Miss
6(212) Deuce Vaughn RB Kansas St.
7(244) Jalen Brooks WR South Carolina
Lost 2024 5th Round Pick (Kansas City)
Not me,

If you are gonna add veteran trades to the NFL draft -then maybe the vet FA period should be additional too. As we could have lost the key re-signed

If you want to combine the entire offseason that includes all the above in vet trades, vet FA period (ala Wilson, LVE, Hankins) and tagging both Pollard, Steele.
Then that's another tall tale.

I just thought of something.

What if we make the playoffs and face the 49ers for a 3rd time and in a last play desperate attempt to score McCarthy lines up Deuce Vaughn at C?

Include the vets, and it’s an A- for me. B without. Loved Mazi, Cooks, Gilmore and Deuce, liked the blocking TE, and I’ll wait and see on the rest.

I think the OL is in better shape. I think we got better at RB and WR, and the D is top ten. I’m intrigued. If I’m wrong, life goes on.

Fa signings have nothing to do with your draft picks. I'm not lumping anything together. I'm grading what they did with their draft picks and that means including the three trades.

A terrible draft. Did zero to improve the offense. Dan Quinn's influence is starting to remind me of Marinelli.

Dallas fans will still applaud Will McClay as some genius yet the Eagles front office runs circles around him. They outclassed us this entire offseason.

Will McClay is terrible after round 1.

This is similar to the D draft when DQ got here. What is the plan on offense? We didn’t get better.
This is what we have done for most of the last decade.

What’s worse is targeting certain players / positions and taking them early because we are afraid they won’t be there with our pick in the next round. We got away from that some the last few years taking CeeDee and Micah when they were BPA and not a major need.

But it burned us with guys like Kelvin Jospeh and Jalen Tolbert when there were runs at a target position. This year seems much like, targeting a specific need and/or player over taking higher rated players at a lesser need area.

We have a front office so bad that they actually were afraid Eric Scott Jr. wouldn't make it to their 6th round pick. So afraid that they panicked and traded up.

I want you to imagine that scene. Really appreciate the colossal stupidity.

NO way are we catching the Eagles. Jerry is just lost. Its like watching 3 dummies up there while the Eagles FO keeps doing all the obvious moves.

The Swift trade was just insult to injury.

It really is comical. Even the Giants looked smarter than Jerry. And thats hard to do after their offseason of signing Jones.

No one to push Dak to improve. He has no incentive to get better. Plus, nothing to help Dak be a better QB.
So, a "C" for me.
However, I have to admit, I don't know any of the players the cowboys drafted...never heard of them.

They used draft picks from this year to acquire those players.
Plus about 20 mil in cap space, so I think it's reasonable to consider those as FA acquisitions as well.
Hankins, maybe, as he is minimum player, but Gilmore and Cooks were salary dumps as much as trades for picks.
It was a huge win, however, that we reworked Cooks deal as we did.

On the draft itself, I am not a fan, but I also think it's useless to grade a draft at this point, it's really just an opinion with no basis in fact until we see these guys play and develop.

Playing 5-dimensional chess against themselves.

You just don't know though, right? Not at this point.
We did this in 2020, gave up a 2021 5th to move from the 5th up to the last pick in the 4th, and took Tyler Biadasz.
The Eagles didn't even keep either of our 5th rounders.
That ended up being a pretty good move, so who knows about this one?
