A good time to "Score" a player is about 3 year mark, but not all positions are created equal. Some take more "development," but the studs regardless will always find a way to shine regardless of position for sure by year 2. Hopefully we get more from our 1st rounder though.

Far (way far) to early but something to talk about.

Can’t argue the Mazi grade at this point and so far we have yet to get any benefit at all from any of our 2023 draft picks, but let’s revisit in a couple of years or at a minimum after year one. They are still just learning the game and trying to get their feet wet.

Gonzalez A-, he is out for the season and the Patriots are terrible.
What does that have to do with the grade of the player? Because Diggs had an ACL does that mean he's a spare? A rookie should be judged by the overall success of his franchise?

I don't understand your post.

Right not very complicated they mean nothing at this point.
They are accurate. They tell you who is playing well. NO doubt had Mazi had an eye and he was killing it you would feel differently.

Agree.

What if Parsons would have gotten into a bad car wreck 4 games into his 1st year and missed the remainder of the season.

I mean....still A+ draft pick....right?

The only thing that brings me solace about Carter is essentially he just just a switch out for Hargrave, who is playing better. Of course, the fact that Hargrave is playing better for the team we face Sunday brings me back down.
Haha!

No I would not. Grades and rankings pretty much useless. They are opinions, and many are based with a bias.
Mazi could have an A grade and Dallas ranked #1. It all means nothing.

They are only accurate to ones own opinion. My opinion is they mean nothing.

Accuracy depends upon the calibration of the instrument, how precise is it.
If each number on a ruler is actually off by 1/16 then what you measure is accurate to that particular ruler, but it is still not correct in the real world.

In all fairness, let's wait till year 4 or 5 till we pass judgment on Mazzi. Some players take a little longer to develop.

Grades mean nothing at this point. However should be a  thread.

Some players are only as good as the surrounding talent and coaching. Others just need more time.
Agree it doesn't mean anything at this point but I find it a little ironic that Nolan Smith is graded the same as Mazi Smith with all the crazy ridiculous posts around here about him being a disappointment and the fact that we have common knowledge that that other draft pick they took last year with the Eagles that actually plays nose tackle didn't do anything his rookie year that was outstanding to where it stood out I mean this is what nose tackles do...

Yeah but as an individual he's been playing very well I mean for a rookie out on an island he was getting good grades every game you notice the game got a little better in the passing game when he got hurt it opened up all of a sudden CD lamb was a lot better that shows you that he was playing pretty well..

He's actually a member here. aka NeionDeion21, and hosts LockedOnCowboys. I think he also covers the Raiders.
I had no idea Marcus was a member here.

I used to listen to locked on cowboys every day until his co-host blocked me on Twitter like a baby simply for disagreeing with him about something.

I'm just pissed that Jalen Carter fell to the Eagles. That fall had a Randy Moss feel to it. Not sure there was any legit reason not to pick that kind of talent when he fell out of top 3.

It's all subjective and some of these guys will have better rankings next year, but not that bad of a sign that only one player past #17 gets an A Rating. Hard to say we should have drafted someone else without losing a lot to trade up. AND we have the position most likely to improve in rating in second, third years.

Most suprising for me - how quickly Stroud has come on in the NFL. Texans got a good one. Damn.

I have no issue with the grades, but certain players should have an incomplete because of situation. Also, I have no issue with Mazi's grade, Bro doesn't have a TFL or anything so he's not going to grade high.

What's being graded here?

If the selection itself is being graded, Bijan as a B+ makes sense, but any guys 25-31 should be graded with consideration to the available talent at the time of the pick. In other words, 25-31 shouldn't be graded as harshly as, say, the Gibbs pick.

If they're grading the player's performance thus far, Bijan graded any less than A doesn't make sense.

Nobody expected Mazi to be an immediate difference maker. He's done what's been asked of him and 75% of our games this season have been dominated by the defense. To write him off as a bad pick this early is premature, to say the least.
Why couldnt Mazi be an immediate difference maker? Thats what first round picks are supposed to do.

What is being asked of him? To play sparingly? LOL

Mazi has been a disappointment thus far. NO two ways around it. Doenst mean he wont be good eventually.

Did you pay any attention to pre and post draft analysis of the pick and the player? DT is a position that takes time to develop. Mazi wasn't as developed as you would like for a 1st rounder, but we had a need and his measurables/potential are through the stratosphere.

He was drafted, knowing that year 1 and perhaps year 2 will be developmental seasons. He was expected to learn, and fill in for big Hank when necessary. He provides a large, strong body that demands doubles when he's in, and he does well maintaining leverage, although I'd like to see more consistency. He isn't as good as Hankins yet, but has the talent to be one of the best....which is why you take the risk late in the 1st. To label him a bust is ignorant, premature, and absurd.
