Mazi Smith DL, MICH

Height: 6-3, Weight: 337
Smith is another one of my favorite players. He’s a power player who can hold up against the run, but I think he will be a better pass rusher than people expect. He just needs to keep his weight in check. (Pete Prisco)

Luke Schoonmaker TE, MICH

Height: 6-6, Weight: 250
Fun, slippery, speedy TE. Strong hands. Not a YAC type whatsoever and only broke out at the end of a long career. Fun player who fills a need but this is too early. (Chris Trapasso)

team logo

DeMarvion Overshown LB, TEXAS

Height: 6-4, Weight: 223
Long, athletic off-ball linebacker who has a major tackling issue. Will find the football though in coverage and that's vital. Good, not great explosiveness and range. (Chris Trapasso)

team logo

Viliami Fehoko EDGE, SJST

Height: 6-4, Weight: 263
Advanced rusher who's strong and has a thick EDGE frame. Multiple years of high-level productivity. Athleticism is a little concerning. Love the depth at the position for Dallas here. (Chris Trapasso)

team logo

Asim Richards OT, UNC

Height: 6-4, Weight: 315
Undersized, finesse type at OT. Typically good hand work. For his size, he works hard to grow roots in pass pro but has to get stronger at the initial point of attack. Prudent depth pick for Cowboys up front. (Chris Trapasso)

team logo

Eric Scott, Jr. CB, USM

Height: 6-2, Weight: 202
Long, explosive cornerback who's best as a linear athlete. Stiffness pops when changing directions. The Cowboys like picking some obscure CBs. Wasn't firmly on the draft radar. (Chris Trapasso)

team logo

Deuce Vaughn RB, KSTATE

Height: 5-6, Weight: 176
Darren Sproles Lite. Not as explosive. But similar super-tiny frame. Glides around the field. Can't find him among the trees. Highlight-reel jukes at times but not ridiculously elusive. Useful in the pass game. Impressive pass pro reps. (Chris Trapasso)

Jalen Brooks WR, SC

Height: 6-2, Weight: 205
Rooks is a big, physical boundary receiver that lacks top end speed. He does a good job of flattening his routes across the field but lacks burst. Dallas adds more size to the room. (Josh Edwards)

I say the same thing every draft, If three players are still on the roster three years from now it was an OK draft. Mazi will start. According to Jerry so will Schoon. Right now C+ range.

I knew the TE was going to start and make a difference.

I didn't want any TE until the 3rd but our hand got forced and reached. I hope he proves everyone wrong.

If you look at drafts historically among many teams, its extremely rare to hit it out of the park with every pick. Unheard of. Realistically, a good draft would be 2 good players long term and another 2 guys who play regularly on offense or defense.

Dallas was picking at the end of every round which was a big issue. Had they been taking 15 picks earlier, the above group might look much better.

Regardless, might be a good draft. Might be a terrible one. Time will tell.
Agreed. I echoed pretty much the same exact thing in another thread.

I'm scratching my head over that TE pick. It seems to me we could have done better there. If not for that pick I would rate this overall draft as a solid B but the TE drags it down to a B- or C+.

Totally agree, but the issue here is the perception is a division rivial picking behind us blew our doors off...that's going to magnify a mediocre draft
Need to keep in mind that Dallas also traded some draft capital to obtain a WR,CB and DT. With that draft capital the draft itself might have taken a different turn

They didnt get a back? How did they not get a back? Sad
In their eyes, they didnt feel they needed one.
they got jones, and like their guys, so thats it unless elliot comes back, or they sign a udfa, or cuts from another team.

If it were me, I would have went all out to get gibbs.

also they did draft a rb with pick 7, a 5'5 guy lol 172 lbs.
he is good pass catcher, but I can forsee dak throwing too high for him.

Knowing jones boys, jones and pollard will get all the carries anyway.

F for me from 1-7 worst draft ever. Another finesse Olineman, a 25 year old TE with surgeries galore and a corner who ran 4.7+. Great job, Great job!
Have you forgot the special teams draft that Jerry and Wade conducted?

Zeke is gonna come back to haunt you...LOL!
I'd resign Zeke on the cheap as a backup and use him sparingly until mid-December and into the playoffs, then turn him loose to do what he does, ground and pound the defense into submission. Zeke's main problem in recent years is he is worn out by the end of the season. Let him spend the season in strength and conditioning.

draft grades the day the draft ends is like giving a movie review for a movie youve never seen.

Worthless.
Only partially true.

There is still the game within the game.

Taking Schoon at 58 was a scenario where the brain trust misplayed their hand.

He would’ve easily been there in the early-mid third, so finding a dance partner to swap down and pick up more draft capital was clearly the right move.
