***?

Jones did stick... but so did Peterman, Nathan Jones, Crayton and Reeves. Reeves may turn into a very good player. Parcells likes him a lot... Crayton too. Peterman might end up starting this season.

Also, that draft enabled us to pick up a first round pick the following season with which we drafted Marcus Spears... a very good player.

You gave it a D?

Why didn't you grade last years? You'll say it hasn't been enough time to grade it yet... but we all know you won't grade it because it was a homerun and it might break your fingers to write too much positive stuff.

That's it... our truce is off.

Ladies and Gentlemen this is proof of why you do not draft just for need.

For all of those whinging and complaining about this years draft of taking players that may have been BPA but in your opinion did not fit a need.

Pick on or the other.

You want us drafting for need and reaching ala the Three Gloves (CB Draft).

Or would you have rather taken the BPA and been better off in the long run.

There are times when teams have a BPA that also fits a need on a board and that is when you really get lucky.

But I say again...You want to reach for a pick of need, you get those types of drafts that Eddie has just labeled busts...yet at the same time it seems eddie has been going from thread to thread making sure to complain to everyone that will read.

I agree w/ pretty much everything except the 2004 draft. A "C" or "C+" would have been more accurate. Rogers being a 2nd round bust really hurts this draft, but the surprise play of Crayton, Reeves, and Jones as 7ths softens the blow somewhat. Jury is still out on Peterman and Ryan. Julius has shown what he can do. Now he must stay healthy.

Eddie, we are getting a little harsh here. I would hardly consider getting a HOF OL in a draft a D. But, I would say more like a C.

1995

1. NO PICK
2A. Sherman Williams, RB, Alabama
2B. Kendall Watkins, TE, Mississippi St.
2C. Shane Hannah, G, Michigan St.
3. Charlie Williams, DB, Bowling Green
4A. Eric Bjornson, WR, Washington
4B. Alundis Brice, DB, Mississippi
4C. Linc Harden, LB, Oklahoma St.
5A. Edward Hervey, WR, USC
5B. Dana Howard, LB, Illinois
7. Oscar Sturgis, DE, North Carolina

Grade: F (10 swings, all misses)

Actually Eric Bjornson did play with us for a few years, no he was never a super stud, but a pertty solid player given he was taken on the second day in round 4.

1996

1. NO PICK
2A. Kavika Pittman, DE, McNeese St.
2B. Randall Godfrey, LB, Georgia
3A. Clay Shiver, C, Florida St.
3B. Stepfret Williams, WR, Northeast Louisiana
3C. Mike Ulufale, DT, Brigham Young
5A. Kenneth McDaniel, G, Norfolk St.
5B. Alan Campos, LB, Louisville
6. Wendell Davis, CB, Oklahoma
7. Ryan Wood, FB, Arizona St.

Grade: F+ (Randall Godfrey turned into a solid player ... too bad JJ was too cheap to pay him more than $150K to stay with us)

Getting Rancall Godfrey hardly makes the draft an F+. I could see D, but not quite an F+.

1997

1. David LaFleur, TE, Louisiana St.
3A. Dexter Coakley, LB, Appalachian St.
3B. Steve Scifres, OG, Wyoming
3C. Kenny Wheaton, CB, Oregon
4A. Antonio Anderson, DT, Syracuse
4B. Macey Brooks, WR, James Madison
4C. Nicky Sualua, FB, Ohio St.
6. Lee Vaughn, DB, Wyoming
7. Omar Stoutmire, S, Fresno St.

Grade: D (Pro Bowler in Dexter Coakley, and great value pick in Omar Stoutmire)

Wow, we get a Pro Bowl LB and and a good value pick in Stoutmire and we get a D? But then again we drafted one of, if not the most dominate guards of all time in Larry Allen, and got a D also in your books, so....

Try a C-.

1998

1. Greg Ellis, DE, North Carolina
2. Flozell Adams, OL, Michigan State
4. Michael Myers, DT, Alabama
5A. Darren Hambrick, LB, South Carolina
5B. Oliver Ross, OL, Iowa State
6. Izell Reese, S, Alabama-Birmingham
7A. Tarik Smith, RB, California
7B. Antonio Fleming, OL, Georgia
7C. Rodrick Monroe, TE, Cincinnati

Grade: D+ (Ellis and Adams stuck. Oliver Ross actually turned into a good player for another team).

Don't forget that we got a few good years ut of Michael Myers as well. All you can honesly hope for out of a second day pick, is to give your a few good years of solid play.

I would say this is atleast a B-. How many teams get two Pro Bowl caliber players in one draft?

1999

1. Ebenezer Ekuban, DL, North Carolina
2. Solomon Page, OL, West Virginia
3. Dat Nguyen, LB, Texas A&M
4A. Wane McGarity, WR, Texas
4B. Hunndens "Peppi" Zellner, DL, Fort Valley State (GA)
6. Martay Jenkins, WR, Nebraska-Omaha
7A. Mike Lucky, TE, Arizona
7B. Kevin Gannon, OL, Baylor

Grade: F+ (Dat was the only distinguished player of the group)

Actually Ekuban is still playing in the league and while he may not be a great player, their were a whole lot worse players taken before him. And Soloman Page was a pertty solid RT for us for a few years. Dat Nguyen proved to be a Pro Bowl caliber player for us for several years. And Kevin Garmon also gave us a few years of decient play. Once again, not a great draft by any means, but you can certainly do a whole lot worse. Try a C+.

2000

2. Dwayne Goodrich, DB, Tennessee
4. Kareen Larrimore, DB, West Texas A&M
5. Michael Wiley, RB, Ohio State
6. Mario Edwards, DB, Florida State
7. Orantes Grant, LB, Georgia

Grade: F (as pathetic as it gets)

Well, we finally agree.

2001

2 Quincy Carter Georgia
2 Tony Dixon Alabama
3 Willie Blade Mississippi State
4 Markus Steele USC
5 Matt Lehr Virginia Tech
6 Daleroy Stewart Southern Mississippi
7 Colston Weatherington Central Missouri State
7 John Nix Southern Mississippi
7 Char-ron Dorsey Florida State

Grade: F

I wouldn't say F. But I could see a D. Both Quincy Carter and Tony Dixon did atleast play for us, although very poorly alot of times. And Matt Lehr started several games for us for several years, and was a decient player for a while.
2002

1 Roy Williams Oklahoma
2 Andre Gurode Colorado
2 Antonio Bryant Pittsburgh
3 Derek Ross Ohio State
4 Jamar Martin Ohio State
5 Ralph Hunter Virginia Union
6 Tyson Walter Ohio State
6 Deveren Johnson Sacred Heart
6 Bob Slowikowski Virginia Tech

Grade: D (Roy Williams is a top tier player, but remainder of the draft turned into nothing)

Lets see, we got one of the best safties in all of football and Andre Gurode who while not being near what was expected of him, has atleast been a decient pro. Not to mention while we expected a whole lot more of him, Antonio Bryant did play for a few years here and help out some. Try a C.

2003

1 Terence Newman Kansas State
2 Al Johnson Wisconsin
3 Jason Witten Tennessee
4 Bradie James Louisiana State
6 B.J. Tucker Wisconsin
6 Zuriel Smith Hampton
7 Justin Bates Colorado

Grade: A- (best draft in years)

WOW, what does it take to even get an A from you? We got 4 starters out of our first 4 picks, with Bradie James getting better every year. And you still will only give an A-??

2004

2 Julius Jones Notre Dame
2 Jacob Rogers USC
3 Stephen Peterman Louisiana State
4 Bruce Thornton Georgia
5 Sean Ryan Boston College
7 Nathan Jones Rutgers
7 Patrick Crayton NW Oklahoma State
7 Jacques Reeves Purdue

Grade: D (Julius is the only player who sticks. Crayton a good pick in the 7th).

Actually Julies Jones, Nathan Jones, Patrick Crayton and Jacques Reeves all are still on the team played for us last year. While The middle part of the draft has definately been a disapointment, Julius Jones has proven to be a very good RB in the NFL. And Jones, Crayton and Reeves are all solid contributors for 7th round DP's. Not to mention, this draft did help us land Spears last year. This draft is atleast a C+. More like a B- (could be a lot better depending on Peterman.

Last I checked, Jones is here, so is Peterman, Sean Ryan is still on the roster, Nate Jones and Jaques Reeves have contributed as well. Not just Crayton.

I hear Eddie is a real hit at cocktail parties... ;)

But seriously, how is a draft from 1994 "relevant"? Anything before Parcells arrived is completely irrelevant.

Spears is part of the 2005 draft which is why 2005 is an A. So we can't double dip.

Good Lord! Looking back at those drafts, I now know it probably would have been the same if Dallas just let the clock run out (ala Viking style) on most of those draft pics. They might have won a few more games as well without some of those players.

I like SM Cowboy's scores better. You're way too hard on some of those past drafts. No matter how bad the other picks were, you can't give a draft that produced one of the greatest offensive linemen in the history of the game (and in the 2nd round no less) a D.

You have to add in the extra first for the following year. Plus, everyone is still in the league somewhere besides Rogers. Thornton started last year for 49ers, Crayton is a contributer as is Reeves. N Jones versitile. JJ not bad. Ryan may be cut. C+/B-

But you didn't rate the 2005 draft, so it wouldn't be double dipping.

However, you just told us that you'd rate 2005 as an A, so that's fine.

The 98 draft was at least a B ...... alot of talent there ....

I think alot of those drafts is what happens when you do what alot of people (including Eddie) wanted to do this year ..... draft and reach for need.

Funny how the same people that complain about our poor drafts ...... wanted us to make the same mistakes this year.

Especially when he gave last year an A ...... wonder how he can somehow give last years credit to Jimmy Johnson :lmao:

You're even more negative than I am! LOL! Granted I thought most of those drafts sucked too but I think your grades over all are a bit too harsh.

There is some merit in what you say.

98 was not a B. You're too lenient with your grading. I wish I were in some of your classes.

Two guys stuck from 98 ... Ellis and Flo. Considering who we gave up to get Ellis, it hurts even more. Ellis turned into a solid, but unspectacular DE. Flo turned into a very good LT. The rest turned into nothings. Two out of 9 picks is NOT a B. Ask your HS math teacher.

I may have been abit heavy handed, but it's a solid C ... that means passing.

Any draft that nets me a hall of fame offensive lineman, one of the best in his position EVER, gets higher than a D.
