CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
1. Greg Ellis, DE, North Carolina
2. Flozell Adams, OL, Michigan State
4. Michael Myers, DT, Alabama
5A. Darren Hambrick, LB, South Carolina
5B. Oliver Ross, OL, Iowa State
6. Izell Reese, S, Alabama-Birmingham
7A. Tarik Smith, RB, California
7B. Antonio Fleming, OL, Georgia
7C. Rodrick Monroe, TE, Cincinnati

Greg Ellis ...... probowl talent ..... if he was a bigmouth player he would have went a few times

Flozell Adams .....pro bowl talent .......we see what happened last year when he went down

Michael Myers stayed around for a few years and gave us a lot of good minutes ...... if we had him now he would be a monster for a real coach.

Darren Hambrick was a all pro talent LB who we let go because your hero Jimmy convinced Jerry that LB,s where interchangable ..... <sigh>

Izell Reese was a 6th round guy who stayed in the league for years ..... and was a very good value pick for 6th rounder .....

Like I said ..... LOTS of Talent there ..... If Bill had been coach then ....... these guys would have really shined ..

1994

1. Shante Carver, DE, Arizona St.
2. Larry Allen, OG, Sonoma St. (CA)
3. George Hegamin, OT, North Carolina St.
4A. Willie Jackson, WR, Florida
4B. DeWayne Dotson, LB, Mississippi
6. Darren Studstill, DB, West Virginia
7. Toddrick McIntosh, DT, Florida St.

Grade: D (only because we hit with Larry Allen)

1995

2004

2 Julius Jones Notre Dame
2 Jacob Rogers USC
3 Stephen Peterman Louisiana State
4 Bruce Thornton Georgia
5 Sean Ryan Boston College
7 Nathan Jones Rutgers
7 Patrick Crayton NW Oklahoma State
7 Jacques Reeves Purdue

Grade: D (Julius is the only player who sticks. Crayton a good pick in the 7th).

Things you missed Willie Jackson played solid in the leagur for years he was a prodcutive wr for a 4th round pick. he just did it not in Dallas so the scouts had him right

Peterman is still on the team; but a question mark ? Incomplete

Thorton is a starting CB for San Fran so someone else has benifited from the pick so that is a hit

Crayton and Reeves have both played and Reeves has started a few times plus played in nickel and dime plus special team so that at least moves the grade up to a c+ range

Rogers is a bust no doubt about it

So you missed on several things

ROFL. There were some bad drafts but no where near as poor overall as graded.

At least it was good for a chuckle.

1994: No draft where you acquire a Hall of Famer can be a D or worse when you are coming off of a Super Bowl win. Let that sink in for a minute. We won a SB, went and drafted at the tail end every round and ended up with a Hall of famer.

2004: We traded down and gained a 2005 1st rounder which became Demarcus Ware and drafted 8 guys who are ALL still in the NFL. Thats an A+ draft by any real standard.

A lot of guys you completely ignored are still NFL starters.
PArt of the pathetic drafting was the fact we cut guys because we were very deep in 1993 to 1996. Guys like Jimmy Smith/Oliver Ross/Ron Stone would have been given more time on lesser teams.

98 was not a B. You're too lenient with your grading. I wish I were in some of your classes.

Two guys stuck from 98 ... Ellis and Flo. Considering who we gave up to get Ellis, it hurts even more. Ellis turned into a solid, but unspectacular DE. Flo turned into a very good LT. The rest turned into nothings. Two out of 9 picks is NOT a B. Ask your HS math teacher.

I may have been abit heavy handed, but it's a solid C ... that means passing.

Eddie, you are the one that needs to learn a little bit.

Michael Myers stuck around for us also for 5 years and is still in the league, we just lost him to FA. Lossing a guy to FA after 5 years on your team is hardly saying he is not sticking around.

Also, we certainly got some play out of both Izell Reese (who we also lost to FA) as well as Darrin Hambrick, he even started for us for a year.

Also, I would STILL take Greg Elliss over Randy Moss, their is a reason that when Minnesota wanted to trade Moss, only 1 team the Raiders had any intrest in him.

While this draft may not be spectacular, it is definately a very good solid draft for us. If this draft isn't at worst a B-, probally closer to a B, then you need to have your head examined.

hahahaha...I was going to say the same thing...

One other interesting thought...although Mel Kiper doesn't know as much as he thinks he does, I recall him giving us poor grades on most of those bad drafts. We'd all get mad and say there was an anti-Cowboy bias. Granted, there may be one...but I have to admit that, bias or no-bias, most of those that rated those as poor drafts got it right.

Quincy...was just...no good...in a way, QC's drug problem helped speed our turn around.
