Anyone have any thoughts on Grady Jarrett? I know he is a one tech but the guy still creates some havoc in the backfield.

He is a good player that is now over-hyped as a great player. If you watch youtube highlights you'll think he the best player ever, but if you watch full games he does have some issues.

His pass rush first style and quick 1st step as a 1tech lends itself to some specular plays when he beats an OL off the snap and penetrates into the backfield. On the flip side his style causes him to get blown out at the point and he tends to be easily handled with a double-team. Is he a 1tech or 3tech? It might be interesting to see him lose weight and play as a 3tech. As a 1tech, maybe Marinelli is OK with him getting blown off the ball on occasion because Marinelli tolerated it from Nick Hayden on most snaps.

I have a 3rd round grade on him.

Grady is a favorite, can play the 1 or 3 tech, some scouts think he projects better at the 3 tech on the next level but he has flex ability.

Perfect for the 4-3 scheme we run, mix of motor and penetration, perfect for Marinelli.

Like him a lot

I bet the Cowboys do too

I'd for sure be happy with him at 90, but seriously doubt he's there. Earlier 3rd maybe

I remember I was one of the first ones to bring him up a few months ago when he was still a mid to late round prospect. I read some reports that he'd be a great 1-tech. Not a great pass rusher but someone who can stuff the run and always moves so he causes some QB pressures. I thought he'd be a good player to take in the 4th. Fast forward. Now, I'm reading he'd be a 3-tech and he's a good pass rusher. He's also being projected in the early 2nd by some people. So as much as I've always liked him, he's not as good as all the hype he's getting now.

He has always been a 2nd-3rd type to me. Not a fit for everyone, but he would fit in Dallas IMO.

I agree. He'd be a good fit. That's why I liked him. I was hoping he'd be our starting 1-tech and someone who can play in the nickel. I was just hoping we could get him with something like our 3rd round pick, not trading back our 1st rounder and taking him in the early 2nd.

I've been a big fan of his for a while. I watched a few Clemson games just to watch him.

@xwalker said it right. A good player that is now hugely overhyped, at least on this board.

That said, I would take him at 60.

I've seen opposite opinions on him by several analysts.

Some say 1tech that is not a great pass rusher.

Some say great pass rusher not that good in run defense.

To me is more of a pass rusher than run defender. He can handle the run if that is his goal off the snap, but he generally comes off the snaps with a pass rush move which often puts him out of position against the run. He doesn't have the anchor to hold up when out of position. He is fairly easily handled with double teams.

The big question is whether he is a 1 or 3 tech. I would be inclined to see if he could lose a little weight and be a 3tech.

When you say "hyped", what does that mean? I do not see anyone thinking he should go any higher than what he is generally regarded.

I just like him all around, both as a player and the fact that he is pretty much a mature player who has leadership qualities.

I'm a fan if we grabbed him in the 3rd.

Any earlier and I feel we reached a bit
