hey once you lose faith in somebody it's hard for them to get back, and once bill lost faith in Vanderjagt it was all over, because Vandy didn't even seem to try and correct what was going wrong. Even if Gramatica is not a better option then Vandy, atleast we know what we're getting, in Vandy we expected an 80-90% kicker and we didn't get that.

The way Vandy was kicking just about everything to the right... he might have ended up at 50% on the year

Vanderjagt is 3 years older and was injured earlier in the season.

You know I want to believe he will do well, but truth is if he was well thought of seems to me he would not be available. I know he was with Indy earlier, but I will have to be like Mizzouri.............SHOW ME BABY! I hope I'm wrong.

The question should be "Why was Gramatica available if he is so good"?
The most accurite kicker in the history of the league just became available and no one is calling him up yet either.

Let's just hope that Parcells made the right decision...that's all us fans can do...

Well, you know that Parcells is also hoping that he made the right decision too because the bottom line is that there are never any guarantees when it's comes to being a successful NFL kicker. Perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what's needed to help improve our kicking game. My hope is that with every successful attempt Gramatica has in practice will go a long way to help in boosting his confidence level (an intangible that's probably the greatest asset a kicker can have).

Vandy can and probably will be a successful kicker again. The problem though was the fact that his confidence was shot while playing for us. Many will point to the critical miss that he had in that huge playoff loss against Pittsburgh last year (and rightfully so). I strongly believe that he truly never overcame it and allowed that miss to carry over into this season - it sort of snowballed for him as the season progressed.

At least with Gramatica we have a pretty good understanding now as to why he was so miserable the last two years and, with a fresh start, it looks like he's got an excellent chance to turn things around again, not only for himself but for the Cowboys woeful kicking game as well.

I would rather hope someone (Martin) makes a FG... instead of hoping Vanderjack wouldnt miss!!!

When I was at the Dallas/Washington game, I buried my eyes in my hands during our final field goal attempt. I did so, convinced that we would miss it... I just had no idea how disasterously the attempt would go.

All I want from a kicker is a guy who I don't have to hide my eyes because of when he's attempting a 35 yarder.

DW, they call him "automatica"

Good point about Vandy being injured. That might have been more of a problem than he let on

When someone can barely make a kick that's from a closer range then an extra point that's pretty bad, so yeah I can believe your statement  .
