Dan, you argued that Romo should be extended this year for the forseeable future. While he can make terrific plays at times he still makes rookie mistakes in big games and seems to have stopped developing when reading defenses. Why wouldnt you want him to earn a contract?
Dan Graziano (12:01 PM)
Well, first of all, I think he has earned a contract. In a league that values the quarterback position the way this league does, he's been one of the top performers for the past five years, flaws and all. But my main point was that I don't see how they can get under the cap this year without extending him. It's a practical matter. They have to lower his cap number

Hi Dan, do you see the cowboys going for charles woodson? He would most likely add leadership, and an increase in turnovers.
Dan Graziano (12:04 PM)
I think he'd be a great fit there, but their chances of getting him are slim. They have cap problems, and needs on both lines. And above all, I imagine Woodson wants to go to a team he's convinced is a right-away Super Bowl contender. Can the Cowboys sell themselves as that?

Is the combine really that big a deal for the upcoming draft? I feel like the coaches already have enought tape on these players performing in game situations with pads, so seeing them run indoors with no pads isn't really indicative of what they can do. Thoughts?
Dan Graziano (12:11 PM)
I think the interviews at the combine matter. As you say, the tape is the tape and they've all seen it. But especially when you're thinking about first-rounders, you want to know as much as you can about the person himself, how he performs under pressure, etc. And the combine puts these guys in stressful situations so that teams can see how they handle them.

I know a lot of talk about Anthony Spencer has been about the need to resign him. I'm not completely sold on the idea, I think it may be best to let him walk. He has been a slightly above player his entire career up until 2012. I am weary about signing a player when his breakout year when he is playing for a new contract.
Dan Graziano (12:12 PM)
Well, Kyle, I think you'll get your wish.

If Chance Warmack is available, and Jerry Jones takes Montae Ball or a QB, is it ok to ditch fandom till Jerry is out of the picture?
Dan Graziano (12:18 PM)
Yeah, it Warmack falls to 18 and the Cowboys don't take him, you have my permission to quit.
Just please pick another team in the division. I'd hate to lose you as a reader.
Bryan (Springdale, AR)
Higher priority for the Cowboys in the 4th-6th rounds, QB or RB?
Dan Graziano (12:21 PM)
RB. More likely to find a guy at that position who can help right away.
Zack (NYC)
Pick a player from each team that exceed your expectations the most going into last year.
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
All right. Alfred Morris, Bruce Carter, Andre Brown and...
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
and...
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
seriously, there's an Eagle somewhere. It'll come to me...
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
Bryce Brown!
Myles (Texas)
Has Dez taken over and become the #1 in D or still to many issues to overcome?
Dan Graziano (12:33 PM)
Well, he had the most catches and the most yards and the most touchdowns, right? Not sure how else you become a No. 1 wide receiver.
Dave (Charlotte)
With 2 former Head Coaches on the Cowboys staff (Bill Callahan & Rod Marinelli), is Jerry Jones hedging his bets that he will make an in-season coaching change of the Cowboys get off to a slow start next season?
Dan Graziano (12:34 PM)
I don't think so, no. Either of those guys get any head coach interviews this year?
Joe [via mobile]
Actually Witten had the most catches.
Dan Graziano (12:35 PM)
Right, but he's not in contention for the No. 1 WR role, which I believe was the question.
Jake (Iowa)
If the Commanders sue the league over the cap issue, do you see Dallas also doing that?
Dan Graziano (12:40 PM)
No, I think the Cowboys have moved on.
But in fairness, their penalty was far less severe.
Jevon (Bahamas)
What do you make of the New Cowboys Luxury Bus? My first thought was they'd probably wish they could have the money spent there in Sal Cap relief...
Dan Graziano (12:43 PM)
I don't think luxury buses count against the cap. I was on the old bus once, at the scouting combine two years ago. It was nice. Saw the new one in New Orleans this year, but wasn't invited on. Perhaps someday.
Anthony (NYC)
I think it was a pretty big step for all 30 owners to unfairly penalize 2 business partners for not colluding. They very publicly admitted to being criminals and do not care. Its crazy but i get your pt!
Dan Graziano (12:43 PM)
I agree with you.
Jake (Iowa)
1st round best rated DL, 2nd round best rated OL, then after that BPA for the Boys... what ya think?
Dan Graziano (12:49 PM)
Solid plan.
