Why do people not look at these stats? Spin them any way you want, the facts are the facts. The NFL is a different game. The running game equates to nothing now days I know the purist don't like it, but it's just the way it is...Here are the last 5 years Superbowl winning teams....Ravens 11th in Rushing, Rice 1143 yards,,,,,Giant's 32nd in rushing, Bradshaw 659 yards,,,,,Packers 24th in Rushing, Jackson 703 yards,,,,,Saints 6th in Rushing, Thomas 608 yards,,,,, Steelers 24th in Rushing, Parker 791.. Now here are the top rushing teams in the last 5 years: Washington, Denver, KC, NYJ, Giants, None of which were close to winning the the Superbowl those years.
Now, I know a balance would be nice. Tony doesn't need to throw the ball 30-50 times a game. And If Murray put up 1000 yards, it would mean he were healthy most of the year and that the OL was playing better. But for anyone to say DM needs to run for 1400-1600 yards, or he needs to "compete for the rushing title" or that he needs to duplicate #22's performances from the 90's is nonsense...Injury prone RB's are a dime a dozen. I love DM when healthy but that's usually not too long. DEZ has the potential to be the #1 freekin WR in the NFL, and the most important leader on this team since the playmaker.....
