Great Expectations

I fully expect the Cowboys to come away with a victory this Sunday, and anything less would be disappointing. The new coach, abbreviated offseason is a factor, but its also a bigger factor if we let them have that excuse. All teams had an abbreviated offseason and had to make it work.

The falcons have some dangerous weapons, but they are a pretty average team in the grand scheme of the league. This is the nfl, aside from maybe the bottom 2 to 5 teams in the league you won't find teams completely lacking talent across the board. I dont think you'll see many games on the schedule that are easier to be honest. Lose this one and I wont panic just because the rest of the division is so bad, but it won't be a good sign at all.

I think this team does have a ton of talent, some obvious holes, but no more than most teams. I see no reason to not expect this team to win more than it loses.

Dlaw underachieved last week. Zach Martin underachieved last week. Poe underachieved last week. Jayson underachieved last week. Dak was significantly better than prior mentioned, but feel he can up his game too. Others can be added to the list. Too many players on this roster who are talented enough to make an impact didnt show up. Thats the issue, and this team is capable of more.

I then look at the coaching staff/play calling and think their are some obvious changes that can be made and be made quick. Im optimistic on 2nd half adjustments this defense made last week, just hope the offense can get past the old school, just beat you man, scheme doesn't matter approach we had the past few seasons.

I wont let one game define the season, but i think its more than fair for the fans to expect Ws.

....great expectations imo would be, have big Mike sit down with several players (big contract) emphasis. And drop the bomb, "Your getting paid elite money, play like you earned it". Faking it, doesn't work anymore.

Super Bowl or bust !!

th

I still expect 10-6

But i know my team.....they need to be punched in the mouth....self motivation just aint there its like they think their Good enough to step out there and win

the rams punched them in the mouth....and thats fine with me

Most rabid fans during the off season wear giant “Fan glasses” with the lenses tinted rose. Every draft pick and FA we sign is always going to be really good before they have ever played a down here. Throw in a new head coach, who replaced the whipping boy puppet HC everyone was ready to tar and feather, and we have a recipe for fan anger when the first game doesn’t lay out according to plan.

I got fried in the Zone cookware this week for suggesting before we declare this season a total loss, maybe we should give it some time. I’ve never seen so many people crying for the heads of players and coaches....after 1 of 16.

I actually think this high level of frustration we’re seeing comes from a lot more than this one game. Twenty five years of frustration and disappointment builds steam.
We expected more with a proven SB winning HC.

This team has been over hyped . As a result fans need to blame someone or something.

They lost their main scapegoat from the least 10 years so are scrambling for others.

No, this won't be that long but I gotta get something off my chest.

Your expectations are yours, own them but don't expect a team to live up to them and then take it out on them with all of these fire this coach or cut this player stuff after one game.

I expected the Cowboys to beat the Rams, 28-20, based on my knowledge of the Rams last season and their problem with their OL. Well, they fixed that, for one game anyway, and they have a very good offensive HC that had an excellent game plan, just as he did when he ran the ball down their throats in a playoff game with a backup RB.

In those great expectations, did they include overcoming the loss of a starting MLB, TE and backup RT? Did they take into account an OL a shadow of it's former self and the QB would have to play with the DL in his backfield all night and the RB would have to show just what a power back does.

In forming your expectations, did you take into account that neither the HC or DC has been able to incorporate their design for this team? And injuries are going to delay that further.

It's OK to be disappointed, even angry, but after a couple of days, it's time to look forward and not back any longer.

I don't know what to expect this Sunday against the Falcons, they're a tough matchup with the Cowboys at 100% and they'll not be close to that. Ryan sure as hell isn't scared of them, he loves playing the Cowboys.

Manage your expectations or they will manage you and this forum has gone whiner worse than any other time I've seen it.

Go ahead, let me have it, unload on me. Ya see, I am expecting that.

Yep, around noon on Sunday, I am looking forward to a little yard work on the new house, continuing to set up my garage for my woodworking tools and will probably get a ride in on my Harley. I just might check in on the game but I am bored with the NFL as a whole and the Cowboys have just proved they are no different then they've been in the last 20 or so years...

They were running the ball well with Gurley in the first half but then the SEA O took them out of their game plan. Need to make them one dimensional because Ryan's a statue in the pocket.
Ryan will prob have a career day against us. They have to be licking their chops.

If it turns out we are no better than our record then what does that tell us about our prior evaluations and expectations?

Maybe we were a 8-8 team last year ?

The best play the Cowboys have is to use their offense, like SEA did, to take them out of their game plan. I didn't like the Cowboys D against them with Vander Esch in there but without him, they will have a hard time against the run and play action.

I do think the winner will have to get north of 30. They got 25 against SEA, a better D.

A lot of excuses there my friend.

Atlanta 35-Dallas 17.

And we are on our way to 0-3.
