This should bring a little clarity to a few questions......
LOL, I am looking at guys that are in same age range that are free agents.Williams has the same amount of sacks as osa and a worse run grade. He'll cost the same so you win nothing. You can't complain about osa vs the run and provide worse run defenders. Yall are insane
That's like breaking up with a girl who cheated on you and wanting to upgrade to a stripper. Make it make sense
Osa is getting resigned and rightfully so. I'll let yall pretend Milton Williams will get half of what osa gets. Imagine calling him an elite pass rusher but he's getting 6 mil. Lol smh you win broLOL, I am looking at guys that are in same age range that are free agents.
Here are some numbers:
Name OTC Value OVL RUN PASS SACKS
Osa 13m 68.1 50.8 78.5 4.5
Kinlaw 7m 53.4 50.8 68.2 4.5
Wharton 7m 56.3 41.5 70.5 6.5
Williams 6.5m 73.5 41.7 91.0 5.0
Onwuzurike 8.2m 70.2 66.5 66.2 1.5
And if we want to consider some older guys, how about Poona Ford?
Ford 8.5m 85.3 80.3 70.0 3.0
The guys I mentioned are likely to cost about half of what Osa will and give similar production in one area or the other. Might as well go after Williams who is in the same range against the run but is a considered elite as a pass rushing DT. Onwuzurike and Ford give significantly better run defense for 4-5m less per year.
If it is solely about the best player and best run defender, it would be Ford. Best pass rusher would be Williams.
I only looked at players with 3-5 years of experience, with the exception of Ford. There are valid options. I don't dislike Osa, I just think for what he provides, we can get for cheaper. And that is what your GM looks at.
OTC has him at 13m a year....at times during the year they had him projected as much as like 23m a year. We are very thin at DT. I don't know that they can pay him the money it appears he will get and find help. Our run defense sucked with him. We can get players for 1/3 less that can do the same job.He is not going to be signing for the minimum allowed in the CBA. He’s not a $30 million per season guy, but if the Cowboys want to keep him it will take some money. It’s not like defensive line is a strong point on this team. Parsons is not going to play on his fifth year option without an extension signed. He will get $30+ million per season. The team has to do something.
So you throw out a couple of sack numbers like it means a whole lot. I've pulled age, PFF ratings, and value ranges from sites that do it for a living. But stilltheguru has all the answers. LMAO. Poona Ford would be a much better player for Dallas at 1/3 less.Osa is getting resigned and rightfully so. I'll let yall pretend Milton Williams will get half of what osa gets. Imagine calling him an elite pass rusher but he's getting 6 mil. Lol smh you win bro
Bro. What elite pass rushing dt gets 6 mil per year? I'm just curious. You tell meSo you throw out a couple of sack numbers like it means a whole lot. Williams is the 3rd best DT on the Eagles. He will get a nice deal, but I bet it will be less than what Osa gets.Osa is getting resigned and rightfully so. So give your evidence as to what he is gonna get. Find some similarities. Compare what you find for Williams and Osa and get back to me. I don't create the sites. I don't work for them. I understand they get some wrong. But overall, they are decent resources. I'll bet Osa gets more money than Williams.Bro. What elite pass rushing dt gets 6 mil per year? I'm just curious. You tell me
That is the difference between a GM whose job is on the line as opposed to an empty chair unless there is a family photo op.Here is our problem in a nutshell:
We will overpay an average player just because of familiarity,
and not take a chance on upgrading the position in free agency,
because of the risk of the unknown.
This is why until we get astute GM,
we are doomed.
I think he'll be a solid player who is overpaid and causes us to not do more at the position. I think he's basically Tyrone Crawford, who was a better player than he got credit for being because we tried to make him more than he was.Let me be right again. File it away and forget about it when I am.
Whoever signs Osa will live to regret it. He has terrible 2nd contract written all over him.
Which basically means welcome back.
I'm fine with signing Osa IF we still make DT an early-round priority. If we sign him and don't draft a DT early, then I'm not a fan. Thankfully, we do need some depth at DT no matter what, but we actually need Mazi and Osa to be the depth behind better starters.Who is the 3tech upgrade to osa? The only answer has to be a rookie because there isn't a free agent upgrade over him
When do the Cowboys' ever "get ahead of themselves."https://sports.yahoo.com/cowboys-co...ir-best-defender-micah-parsons-044948098.html
Cowboys could thrive under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. But first, they must answer a major question about their best defender, Micah Parsons.
