my feeling. he may not have been the best value or sexiest pick but his effect on the team should be exponential. i bet micah is less sick
 
Radio says KC was trying to move up to get Mazi with the call to Dallas.......I guess they didn't check with you first Catch17
 
My honest opinion its a solid pick at a bigtime need. He want get bullied in the middle and excellent at chasing down RBs very quick for his size.

The only negative is they may have selected him 8 to 10 picks too early but they wanted him and knew he wouldn't be there for their second rounder.

I've been saying the first two picks should address OL and DL well there is one of them. I wish we could land Steve Avila in round 2.
 
McCarthy had BJ Raji in Green Bay who was a very good player for several years. Drafted 9th overall in 2009. If Mazi can be as good as him I think we will be happy. I don’t remember him being special but he was effective and that is what we need right now.
 
well leave it the jones to mess up a pick, there were two or three 1st round rated guys on the board and they pick a guy a very slim better than taco so will say he's better but on film not much better this is another al davis type pick .H ave been watching the cowboys long before the jones started messing things up and that was right after jimmy johnson left they are only lucking out so far with some of the picks. Hamburger mike isn't going to get fired by something that will go againist the jones and there clan. he actually looked like a deer in the headlights when asked about mazi. remember the gun charge in october hope there no more flash backs to this and kelvin joesph will bond to him i guess. murphy or branch would have been my pick or even joey porter as a last resort but mazi is a second round guy for a reason

Yeah, that's what I heard on the Draft Show. KC called back after Dallas took him and said that's who they were after. Now, maybe that's hyperbole, but usually these teams have a pretty good idea of when a player might go. Mazi's power as a run defender and upside because of his athleticism might have the team seeing more than just a run stopper in him.

Would be nice. Two big uglies with our first two picks.
 
Never thought I’d see the day we’d invest a 1st in a run stuffing DT lol. Wouldn’t have been my first choice based on who was on the board, but I like the fit and I like the upside. I’ll trust Quinn and the staff to develop him.
 
I warned y'all after MM said in his predraft presser that we needed to get bigger and more physical in the trenches. He told us. This pick was the pick all along I feel. TE was a ruse. KC wanted Mazi badly as did other teams behind Dallas trying 2 trade ^. This was a smart pick by Will McClay. Mike wanted him and got him. Micah wanted him all along. The TE stuff was THEM running a game on the media.,Well played. We did the right thing.
 
A big nose tackle a great move indeed a great pick now we may be able to stop the run
 
try as they might philly is still on top, the tinkering the jones did like extending zeke when they didn't have to and tons of other bone head deals and lousy quarterback selections since jimmy left that there is no going back to the years of excellence. the moves they make like hiring hamburger mike to the staff decisions like red ball learn on the fly as told bu dumb and dumber well it all adds up into what you have now all show and no go at playoff time. SO NEXT DRAFT AND SO ON
 
I don't think MxCarthy wanted him.

He either wanted Kincaid, Levis Murphy..but not Mazi.
