For the first time since 2019, the Cowboys won their opening game and did it with authority. Couldn’t ask for a better start as all three phases of the team, especially defense and STs were sharp. In fact, their dominance reminded me of some of those 70s and 90s teams. The defense so smothered the giants offense, it felt as if the game was over at end of first quarter.
Last night was a great start to what amounts to a marathon. Meaning last night’s statement game was 1/17th of the season. We won’t look this great every week but it was still certainly a wow start.
Some thoughts about last night:
- The giants looked intimidated after the first quarter. That happens rarely in the NFL and speaks to how well prepared the Cowboys were and how dominant our talent can be.
- The offense wasn’t great, but they didn’t need to be.
- Are we that dominant or are the giants that bad? Or both?
- The mark of a great team starts with consistency.
- We won’t be that dominant every week.
It was a great start to a long season. A lot of football left to be played.
Remember- it’s a marathon.
