OK, now that I have had a couple of days to recuperate I will give a few highlights and add some pics. Unfortunately I didn't bring my Canon SLR as I had no idea I would be on the field so the pics aren't great.
Bullet points:
- Arrived at stadium at 3:45, of course the cab dropped us off on the opposite side of our entry point. Walked around stadium and entered near Miller Lite deck. Passed Landry's statue and took some pics.
- Upon entering stadium asked which way to field and was pointed toward media elevator. Showed field pass and was allowed to get off elevator at field level. Walked literally in "the bowels" of the stadium. As we approached the entryway to the field saw NBC production truck, EMS, etc.
- Entered field at corner of endzone where cheerleaders, etc enter field. I literally thought I was going to pass out when I first entered the field. It was just ridiculous looking up at the stands and the videoboard from the field.
- At this point it was still early and relatively empty, the field was being manicured with leaf blowers and rakes. The star was of course still covered by 5 panels of turf.
- I asked one of the field security members where we could go and he said once the players come out you have to stay of the field of play and bench areas (marked by a yellow dotted line). I said "can we go on the field until then?" and he said sure. At this point we walked on the field and took some pics in the endzone (I tried to recreate TO's arms extended on the star in the helmet).
- We then walked around the field and checked out every nook and cranny. Security must have thought we were important because they didn't mess with us at all.
- Once we had a chance to pick our jaws up off the field we settled in on the home side near the bench and hung out there until approximately 20 minutes before kickoff.
- The first players out to stretch were the kickers and Duke Preston who warmed up for a good hour (guess he needed to get his exercise in since he would not play). Marty B came out and was warming up close to us, he walked over to a corner field level suite to greet some friends and was then mobbed for pictures by a bunch of military folks. I took a pic of him and a couple of people I don't know and then he signed my program. Very friendly guy. He then got back to warming up. Felix then came out and warmed up close to us.
- Jacobs finished warming up and then shadow boxed against the goalpost padding that says "Cowboys" on it repeatedly punching it.
- MB3 is one ripped dude, he came out in his underarmor gear and was chiseled.
- Saw roof open from below and recorded a couple of minutes of it with my camera.
- The Giants were stretching on our side of the field and when our guys came out Pierce just stared at them with total anger and said "** ers".
- Rudi Juliani walked past us surrounded by a few guards.
- A couple of young girls (early teens) walked back and forth just inside field of play, I think they were related to Jerry, I later saw Irvin hugging them.
- As the players left the field we started to head toward the corner where we entered to get back to our seats because we did not want to miss the kickoff, Goodell was walking towards us and I said "commissioner, can I have an autograph?" He looked at me and was going to keep walking but then stopped and took my program and signed it. He said "what do you think of this place?" I said "it's amazing, how about you?" and he replied "I think it's pretty great". He then kept walking.
- At this point we walked up to our seats and watched what would be a huge disappointment. The overall experience was amazing, something I'll never forget but of course the outcome of the game was a tough pill to swallow.
Pics coming soon
