Seeing we have GBs first rounder, there is 0 reason to root for anyone other than Detroit. Only way we're making playoffs is by winning our own division

Neither team winning or losing changes the Cowboys playoff order this week so it will end up being about what those teams do after this week.

The two best chances (as of right now, this could change if any of the teams ahead of the Cowboys collapse) for the Cowboys to make the playoffs are ..

1) Catch the Packers (7-3-1) and Lions (8-4)
2) Catch the 49ers (8-4) and Lions (8-4)

That said, picking a winner today between the Packers and Lions won't be a factor until we see what happens with them over the next couple of weeks.

The Cowboys are ..

3 games behind the Seahawks (8-3)
3 games behind the Bears (8-3)
3 games behind the Packers (7-3-1) -- (due to worse NFC record)
2 games behind the 49ers (8-4)
2 games behind the Lions (7-4)

(** before someone mentions it, yes I know there are half game differences in there, but the only thing that matters in final standings are losses because you cannot improve those, so my "games behind" is accurate based on loss column)

One of the Lions, Bears or Packers will win their division, so that leaves 4 teams ahead of the Cowboys for 3 playoff spots, which means they need to catch and pass 2 teams to make it.

Of course anything can happen. The Cowboys could lose today and 2 of those teams could collapse the rest of the season and the Cowboys still get in to the playoffs. The Cowboys could also win out and miss the playoffs.

We will know a lot more after the next two weeks.

I had no idea where we were at, because I really don't see us making the playoffs, but that gives us a better picture of where we stand.

Assuming we win (and if not why bother caring who wins the GB vs Det game) If Detroit loses then we have control over our destiny with them, because if they lose and then we beat them, we are then ahead of them

He's not really a power runner but let's hope he makes him look silly you know Shakes him out of his cleats That would be nice I would love to see Parsons look silly trying to chase that guy down It gives a good idea how we're gonna face him in two weeks as well because that's a difficult task for any team and he's the key to the whole entire Lion's offense because they run so much play action goff is a play action guy..

So the key obviously is usually stopping the run but it's more difficult on this Lions team because they know everything runs through Gibbs...

It is better for Dallas if GB wins due to a potential wildcard tiebreaker with them. But, I think Detroit is better than the Pack and wins the division anyways. Chicago is going to fall off, tough schedule coming. There is just too much that needs to happen to worry about it right now. Dallas just needs to focus on themselves and keep winning.

Green Bay obviously we’d want to lose for the draft pick spot, but which is the team we want to win this game to benefit the Cowboys playoff hopes this year??

Going for Lions so then we can beat the Lions and gain position for our playoff run.

We need Detroit to lose. The Packers have a tougher schedule going forward. The lions need to lose as much as possible.

We need GB to lose. Detroit are what they are, and losing won't likely change that. They are just too good. But we need GB to lose. That tie we had might come into play later.

Yeah,the chances of a 3 way tie is not likely so head-to-head matters more.

Green Bay loss and we beat Detroit gives us a better advantage i would assume.

The Cowboys are in a good spot for whoever wins or loses in this game. Detroit loses and were closer to passing them if we win the next 2 weeks.
If green bay loses it helps with the draft pick.

Yeah there really isn’t a wrong answer. We realistically need both to lose so either one is good.
