This is their base offense really. Even if they start the game with a RB in there, they're going to throw the football.

I think you'll see us in a Nickel or Dime all the time next week except when they have a RB in the huddle. Then you may see some base 3-4.

Burnett seems to be getting more PT than Akin on Nickel situations this year. You have to wonder if James will also be out of the game more this week.

It's a great time for Henry to be coming back healthy because we are going to need all of our DBs to play tight coverage.

To beat the Packers you have to get in Favre's face. Pressure him into mistakes. He's not making many this year. The pass rush is going to need to be in his business.

They are not going to beat us running the ball. Aerial circus time. Gunfight at the Texas Stadium Corral. It would be good to get Crayton back for next week and Glenn would especially be a blessing if he can return. We can pound on them with our size. We're going to need to. A key to this game may be Barber in the 4th quarter. Without a doubt the Corners will be. They can't have a bad game.

We have to get Farve on his *** early and often to make them go to Max Protect keeping them out those 5WR sets

Pressuring Favre will be tough seeing how fast he is getting the ball out of his hands. They are really killing teams with these slants.

I like the fact that the Packs corners play alot of man coverage, thats gonna make for alot of big plays for us. I just don't think they can man up on our recievers and not get burnt. I see TO having another huge day...

...early to see what we can do against them.

I think since this game is for control of homefield advantage in the NFC that Stewart and Phillips will have to tip their hand on a new nickel and dime package that can play the run.

This is where I believe both Carpenter and Burnett will have to step it up to cover the middle seam from either a TE or a slot receiver and be stout against Green on runs.

Sparano should be able to dig up some old footage of Dallas playing Indy last year when they defend multiple receivers in a "bunch" formation inside one slot. We defended that well in a win over Indy.

Favre won't go 5 wide if it's third and long so it's the first two downs that we have to spank them handily in. If Brett is sending guys out on eigth to twelve yard patterns I will take my chances with Ware, Spencer and Ellis getting pressure on him consistently.

He may convert a few, but he will be sitting on his duff more often than not in third and long.

There is another thread which asked what is Green Bay's weakness? I believe they don't match up well with Dallas' physicality for a full 60 minutes. If this is a NFC East smashmouth game, look for them to wilt early in the fourth quarter.

I've got a good friend who's a Packers fan, and a week ago we were talking this game.

His prediction for Packer victory was exactly this, that the Packers would bring a lot of 5WR sets.....and that was the best way to expose the Dallas defense. It does scare me, truth be told.

Watch for Dallas to use a lot of zone blitzes against 5 wide. Lineman will be dropping into coverage and defensive backs will be rushing. The extra half second it takes the QB to read the coverage is another half second to get pressure. Plus, there's nobody in the backfield to pick up those far edge rushers.

Their passing attack reminds me of the ole Run n Shoot offenses from back in the day, save the TE.

Pretty impressive offensive attack they got going there though, and the RB Grant looks like he could teach JJ a thing or two about cut back running.

if they spread the field all game, #4 is gonna be laying on his back alot, especially since in traditional formations the playfake wont work as their run attack will be a minimal threat.

IF we can avoid the big-play TDs - which GB has had alot vs bad teams - then the red zone is going to be a key to this game. i tend to think GB will be kicking more FGs than we will. i think if we get the lead GB will press and make mistakes. i'm not sold on our D, but i'm less confident in GBs.

Truth be told i think the NYG present a better matchup against us than GB does - and we beat them twice - since GB is not physical on either side of the ball.

i can see us using ball control and then using quick strikes to win by 10+ points. that also assumes no bone-headed INTs by either QB to giveaway 7-10 points, or missnaps and self-inflicted injuries ie Skins game.

Assuming we bring pressure off the corners and jam the outside WRs, how do we stop the slants in a 5-wide? Isn't our coverage predicated on taking outside position and looking it to get breaks on the ball?

At the LOS.

Canty needs to get his 8 foot wingspan in the air and Spears to need show off his hops like he did today against the Jets.

Yeah this scares me.

This defense was built to face offenses like the Giants, with the big receivers and all that. That's why we matched up against them so well. The Giants rarely go to even a 3 wide set.

But I think this defense's achilles heel are these spead em out, 3, 4, or 5 wide sets. NE killed us with the slot recievers.

Our defense relies on stopping the run and forcing our opponents to pass.

Well, Green Bay lives on the pass, their running game is simply a complimentary portion.

I'd be worried, but I know we've got Romo and Company on the other side of the ball ready to bail out the defense if things get ugly. We'll be okay.

This could be a lot like week one but so long as the outcome is the same I'll accept it.

I'll say this, the Pack is BEATABLE, the lowly Lions hung 26 rally points on them today and much of Green Bay's offensive production was off of soft cushions ans mistackles.

I believe the same could be said for ANY defense in the league.

If you have 3-5 capable receiving threats you WILL have mis-matches across the board.

No team has 4 great coverage corners/safeties.

The Pats have been dominating using the "spread" and the Packers have been doing the same. More teams would do it if they could but there aren't too many Bradys and Farves around the league, not to mention most teams don't have 3-5 capable receivers.

He is 1 of many players I have been getting excited to watch each week.

The young guns are really starting to fly around the ball and make plays.

Canty, even Spears, Watkins has been very active, Court Brow... a lot to be excited for this year and many years to come.

Oh, and even Miles looked good today playing WR.

Probably one reason Wes Welker is so effective and well versed in the spread offense is because it is what he ran in college at Texas Tech, that's all the Red Raiders do, outscore you and break their own NCAA passing records.
