Greg Cosell's Film review of Dak 11/22

He seems to suggest that Dak is Trevor Siemian but surrounded by more talent. Dak is much better than Siemian.
He didn't suggest it...he said it.

Siemian has a team around him coming off of a championship.

Just a ridiculous statement. I actually use Denver as an example that shows that Dak is doing this and not just anyone can because look at Denver's qbs.

You don't get to 10-1 with a dumb downed offense in the NFL, it's impossible. If you could, everyone would be doing it. I would guess that most if not all OC's would rather not have a playbook that's as thick as the US tax code.
I'm betting Romo wished he had a dumb down offense in his career.

People think we have a dumbed down offense because Dak only throws to open guys and rarely takes risks like Romo.

To be fair, it helps that Dak doesn't have to take those risks,,, Romo didn't really have a choice for most of his years here and when he did have a choice, like in 2014, he lead the league in almost every category.

He is a Philly guy and it hurts like hell for him to give any compliments to the Cowboys. He does have a great record at evaluating players. Carson Wentz was his guy and I think he realizes that Dak in a redraft probably should of been the Number 1 pick of 2016.

I think I've almost come around on that as well.

I still think Wentz has incredible upside but Dak just has the it factor along with a ton of physical ability.

It feels like we drafted a Tim Tebow that can throw.

Any expert is going to be limited in their praise of Dak because none of them had him rated highly in the draft. People don't like to admit that they were completely wrong in their draft assessments.

I'm inclined to agree with his assessment and your statement at the end as well Risen.

Hopefully Prescott stays hot this season and playoffs and continues to develop into a player that can carry lesser talent. Like what franchise QBs have to do at times.

Like Aikman did? This talented team that Risen said wasn't a top 10 team? This team that went 4-12 last season? This team that still has a subpar defense. I don't give a damn what Risen has to say about Dak, because Risen has been wrong about most facets of this team.

Dak is Troy Aikman.

They say he's a 'game manager', which idiots have turned this word into meaning scrub who is being carried by his team.

They're wrong: Terry Bradshaw, Bob Grise, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana and Tom Brady were all 'game managers'. Lot of hardware collected by those guys!

We have all lost our minds over this Prescott thing. Speaking in absolutes on what he is as a player, like he can't grow as a player with experience. All these experts need to sit back and see we're this goes. Because the same things were said about a young Tom Brady and a young Tony Romo.

Patience

He's not playing a dumbed down offense. It's just less sophisticated to tailor his current game. I'd bet big bucks the playbook has gotten bigger as the year has gone on. And the same that the route trees are growing.....for some receivers.....at least some of the time.

This is not an all or nothing concept. Of course he's grown as a NFL QB since game 1. They've been mentoring him since before TC. He's still not comfortable throwing the ball into a window. He still waits until his man is open. Part of that is inexperience throwing into windows, lack of confidence, and the desire to protect the ball above all else. As he matures he's going to throw into tighter windows using a timing offense at least part of the time. He needs time to grow and to trust his WRs....those whom are trustworthy.

Dak is going to get better. He's grown enough that my guess is we'll trade Romo if the current scenario plays out thru the playoffs. If he falters enough then he'll play backup until Romo is gone.

Imagine the delight of the Cowboys in having Romo backing up a rookie QB who has won 10 st8. Or vice versa.

Game, it's funny you mention Aikman. I have never viewed him as an upper echelon QB in the realm of Marino, Elway, Montana, TB12, Peyton Manning, Brees, Jim Kelly etc. However, he did exactly what needed to be done with the supreme talent he played with...I wouldn't trade him for anyone in that era.

If Prescott can be Aikman then sign me up! Drive the championship bus for three chips and earn a yellow jacket. I'd be happy.

I agree they are all still looking for a hook on him. Interesting that Linehan was really the only full tilt cheerleader(of the coaches) for him on the cowboys.

Tebow with a NFL arm is a very good analogy. He is certainly a leader.

Yes Linehan should get the credit, not the scouts, for drafting Dak.
