Thank god, i honestly don't know how he lasted so long. A blind person could see that the only reason he was ever successful was the playmakers he had. Ever pass last year seem like the same thing right to shipley in the exact same spot, you could just tell after shipley was gone the other wide receivers werent going to have a chance of doing anything for the offense.

There was no repore with GG and the WRs! With Mike Davis there was some and when he got hurt the passing game suffered! We have Jaxon Shipley coming in next year! Any news on front runners for replacements?

You know, I have no proof of this, haven't even heard this rumored but I wonder....

Mack Brown has been fiercely loyal to his staff for as long as I can remember. It just strikes me odd that he would force three of his longest tenured coaches out on both sides of the ball. He didn't actually fire any of them. Davis resigned and Tolleson and McWharter retired. I wonder if this is a sign that Brown might be considering stepping down?

I would say Deloss Dodds forced them out and no way Mack is leaving after going 5-7.

Certainly possible Jimmy. One things sure IMO, Mack Brown didn't just up and decide that these guys needed to go all of a sudden. That's not who Mack Brown is.

Seems to be a lot of noise about Major Applewhite for OC. I don't think he's ready and it's not like he's done a stellar job as running back's coach.

Honestly, I think that if you let The Major work under a guy like Chow for 2 or 3 years, it would do wonders for him. I don't know if that rumor has legs or not but I could see a lot of positive coming out of a move like that Jimmy.

Well major is not getting any help since his backs are always injured. Also, he is not gettin any help from Mack when it comes to recruiting either. That said, I'd rather get Gus or Harsin.

I'm leaning towards Bostad. I like the road grader running game he brings to the table. Tim Brewster has ties to Mack, but I'm not sure I really want him. Although, he's a great recruiter but hey who isn't a great recruiter at Texas? I want someone that is also a great talent evaluater. Stories I've heard about about Mack pushing Chris Whaley while Major was big on Christine Michael and LaMichael James. Major also during the transitioning period from Alabama had the inside track on a RB from Pensacola, FL named Trent Richardson. But Mack had already promised Whaley he was the only RB being recruited. With all of that said, Malcolm Brown may solve all of our RB issues next year. And Jonathan Gray is looking as an option in 2012. That could be a great backfield! But is or was the REAL problem Greg Davis? Yes, I think he contributed to the problem greatly! But was it his call to leave GG in the game after throwing 3,4 and 5 ints? I'm going to say that was on Mack! Was Davis the reason DJ Monroe didn't get more playing time? I will never know for sure. But one thing is sure, Texas has some great football players that are and have left the state. I know we can't keep them all but dang it WE ARE TEXAS! We should get the top talent PERIOD!

Also hearing Jeff Madden is leaving to take the same position (Strength and conditioning coach) at Colorado because of his ties with Bieniemy at Colorado. Bobby Kennedy may also bolt to CU as well! Kennedy is also hoping to land the WR coach at UCLA! Good ridence to Kennedy!

Jeff Madden, who has been honored by his peers as one of the nation's leading authorities on physical development, is in his 13th year as the assistant athletics director for strength and conditioning at The University of Texas. He was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in June 2003, and in May 2009, he was elected president of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, a position he still currently serves. Among his other honors, he has also been named the 2004 National Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society and the 2005 College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by Samson Equipment.

Madden was one of just 10 coaches nationally to receive the title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) convention in 2001. The honor represents what the association says "is the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength and conditioning coach and represents professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise."
He also was honored with the Culligan Holiday Bowl's Admiral U.S. Grant Sharp Trophy in 2000, which was voted on by the Longhorns team and is bestowed upon an individual that is dedicated to team success.
Madden came to UT from North Carolina, where he served as associate athletics director for student-athlete development. At Carolina, Madden was responsible for 28 intercollegiate varsity sports and more than 750 student-athletes.
Recognized worldwide as an authority on explosive power training, Madden was named the National Strength and Conditioning Specialist of the Year in 1996 by the International Sports Sciences Association. He also was recognized as a Master Elite Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in 2000.

Mad dog has been living off his rep for several years. What's ridiculous is fans that don't pay attention to what's really been happening. There's a damn good reason this team got pushed around by everybody this year.
