6.5 sacks in 6 games... stretched out over a 16 game season, that's 17 sacks. Keep it up, Greg.

Remember what Phillips and Stewart said about Greg during the preseason and TC. Ellis is playing the same position as Merriman did in SD, not Ware.

17 sacks is pretty close if not exactly what Merriman did last year under Wades scheme.

Has this guy ever played better than what he's playing at now? I don't know if it is Wade's schems or something else, but Ellis is playing well and is a real difference maker. I think he'll easily pass double digit sacks this year.

This is what happens when you focus on Ware, Ellis will get you, you focus on Ellis and here comes Ware. You think you've got both of them handled, and here come Tank and Bradie up the middle. Teams are gonna have a hard time stopping all our guys.

Yes the year he has his leg broke it was what his second year he was on fire until that happen and they had to put screws in his leg

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread title.
Ellis was going off that year before the injury. He had two long returns for TDs - I think one was an int and the other a fumble return. And he was either pressuring or sacking every QB in sight.
I still don't think he has been near the same player since that injury. He has been solid, but right before that injury he was looking like a perennial pro-bowler.
I think a lot of people forget about that.
He is in the perfect situation now. He could play for several more years as a pass rush specialist.

I probably shouldn't mention this because he probably forgot he even ever mentioned it, but theogt mentioned in the offseason that he thought Ellis would end up getting 10 sacks this year.

Of course that was about as idiotic of a statement that's ever been made here, but it may end up happening. I'm willing to give credit where credit is due, eventhough I know he wouldn't. :D

Of course all this may be for naught cuz he may not end up with the 10 sacks.

I don't remember him playing this well at LB but he's played well before. It's much easier to get at the QB when a couple of your teammates are on his butt, too.

He's certainly lived up to my expectations

Greg Ellis has been a very good player for a very long time. He's always been very solid against the run, but never put up big sack numbers so people wrote him off.
I think that if he had played more years in the situaton he is in now (ie not on a team where he could get double and triple teamed all day because he's the only pass rusher with a clue) he would of gone to a few pro bowls, and possibly even be a HOF canidate.

Speaking of Ellis, NFL.com still only has credited him with 6 sacks, but I thought he had a solo last week, and this week, and they didn't give them to him. The one where he forced Eli to fumble should have been a solo for him, but he didn't get credited.

He has 6.5 sacks, I think.

Its helping him that he doesn't have to play every snap either. Generally speaking, he knows that his role on this team as a pass-rusher now, not the every down d-lineman that he was before.

Nice Sig stuff there man.

The Cortaca Jug brings back memories. Tearing down the Cortland goalpost after whippin them was good time.
