I don't even know why Ellis is still here. We should've traded Ellis atleast 3 years ago, and now we will barely get anything for him.

If we're being honest, he was a 1 trick pony last year with rushing the QB, but him being in space was laughable, and would've eventually caught up with us.

Note to Ellis: Shut up and start getting used to the nickel. You're not a HOFer, and there is no next BIG pay-day. Just finish your career being the nice guy you've always been, and retire a Cowboy playing whatever they need you to play.

Lets not forget how well our defense played before Ellis went down, after he tore his achilles we couldn't get any pass rush and teams were gashing us with the run after that. Be careful what you wish for.

I think Ellis did play very well while he was healthy considering he never played OLB before. But I do think people overestimated Ellis' significance. Sean Payton totally exposed our defense by attacking a slow A. Henry and exposing our slower linebackers by passing to their running backs which they couldn't cover and using double teaming on D-ware which made our pass-rush null and void. I do understand the Ellis could have ameliorated that, but I think the greater problem was that Mike Zimmer was too stupid/scared to do anything but a prevent defense and not to change the defensive set up.... It just became too easy for smarter offensive coordinators like Mike Martz and Marty Morningwheg to run similar plays that worked when NO's scored on our defense. When our certain defensive formations which concealed nothing and were insanely banal showed up against those teams, they just ran the similar NO's plays.

If Ellis truly was a team player he would of realized how much his injury cost of last year. He would also understand the reason behind Dallas drafting another pass rusher.

Personally I hope Spencer beats him out because I am sick and tired of this guy crying like a little girl.

Ok, he *****ed to the press. It's not a good idea at all. But it's not been constant *****ing and moaning. I'll give him one ***** session a year. If that's all the trouble he's going to cause then I'm happy. If he keeps it up then it'll be a problem. You guys go play with your TO dolls.

because he wants to play.. you go get a possible career ending injury and see how you will fair...

I can understand his concerns, however you keep this crap "IN-HOUSE".

You dont go to the Dallas media and start moaning and groaning like it is "that time of the month"!!!

If Ellis has a problem with who is drafted or if he wants assurances that he wont be cut or made a backup, then go talk to Wade or Jerry behind close doors.

I lost alot of respect for Ellis going to the media.

so which is worse - a constant moaner, or people that focus on it to give it more attention that it deserves?

he "used to be" such a class guy.

he still is.

How you can say hes a class guy?

Phillips has called him and told him that he is going to be playing the same position that Merriman led the league in sacks. The guy isnt even man enough to go out there and beat the competition without complaining. If the guy is better than him then why shouldnt the Cowboys get him?

Last year he was saying that he couldnt be a leader if he was asked to play linebacker. Greg Ellis cannot be a leader because for the last three years he has pulled stunts just like this. i realize that it is a business but it gets to the point where an unprofessional act is an unprofessional act.

The Commanders need a pass rush and they have draft picks they'll want to get rid of soon. Ship him over there.

I am wondering if Ellis might be expendable even he becomes fully recovered. While it is true that our defense suffered last year when Ellis went down with an injury, I wonder if Phillips had been running the defense if we would have seen that sort of decline once Ellis went down. It will be interesting to see with what Phillips does with these players.

Ellis has been a relatively productive player for us since he has been here, so he might have some trade value. The Skins are giving away draft picks like the "Candy Man" so we might as well get in line and get our candy from them too. LOL :D

From the Raiders instead.

Whiney ash Ellis (I'm embracing the hatred, oh, yeah, Hos!)
It would serve his overhyped persona to end up playing for the Skins.

Greg has been a class guy but, despite his whining in previous years, perhaps he really sees the writing on the wall this year. A potential career ending injury coupled with the total revamp of the coaching staff and the drafting of your potential replacement during your rehab will make your festering gob explode. It has got to be tough to watch these changes take place while you're maintaining gimp status.

Speaking of festering gob... I absolutely love that reference.

duh!

But it's not an either/or proposition to me.

Chances of getting a new contract are slimming by the day.

And being given the opportunity to possibly earn another ON the field is slimming, since the team has drafted your replacement.

Seriously, there are some worrying signs. Ellis' act is getting beyond tired, and Julius Jones' excuse-making is most unwelcome. Phillips better keep them all in line this year.

Yep, definately not what a "championship" team does. They pass blame for their failures to someone else instead of letting their failures motivate them to do better. Don't forget a couple weeks back Spears was running his mouth about Bill also.
