Here's an example in the run game, where Hardy doesn't get credit for the tackle, but he clearly disrupts the entire play and creates a tackle opportunity for his teammate. Hardy's penetration and strength cause the running back's timing to be thrown off and forces him to concede a loss on the play. Take a look:

His very presence on the field makes him a star. He consistently gets pressure, like more consistently than I can personally remember any Cowboys player ever doing it. He has an endless motor and is relentless.

My eyes are drawn to him on every single play. He really is a complete stud. Certainly one of the best defensive players in the league, all-around. Insanely disruptive. He is a nightmare for opposing offenses. We really need to keep this guy around and keep his head straight. I honestly think we're the best organization for that.

And I love(d) Ware. He is/was a fantastic player.
Hardy is on a different level. He may never get 20 sacks in a season (he probably will), but he is just more consistently dominant than I ever remember Ware being. Making the QB feel your presence, whether it's a sack or not, is just huge. QBs feel Hardy all. freaking. game. He is ALWAYS hassling them. He's hit every QB multiple times every game, and ferociously.

He's a special, special player. I'm gushing about him, I know, but I can't help it.

If Hardy plays like this continuously, Ware's career will not even be close IMO.. Though people will obviously just look at the sacks....

Hardy disrupts the whole DL, while many OL simply ran Ware out the play. Ware reminds me of a Derrick Thomas.. Harden reminds me of an actual Kraken..

Ware always had his moments, sure. But I definitely think he went unnoticed on plays way, WAY more often than Hardy does.
Pretty much every play is Hardy's moment. He does something every play that totaly funks up the opposing offense. It's so nice to have it, because I've never personally seen it on the Cowboys (I'm only 24, so didn't really get to experience Haley).

I know it's blasphemy but I'm not sure he isn't VERY close. Although, it's only 3 games.

The real question is how much is he going to cost to keep here long term? And can a deal be done mid-season?

Randy White/ Charles Haley maybe. Definitely in the Lawrence Taylor type of impact .

I hope that 10 years from now, Hardy is a Cowboy, and is universally regarded as having a first ballot worthy career.

If he keeps playing like this, he will be.

Haley was pretty close... but at this point, Hardy looks a little more consistently disruptive.

On a side note, I see a pattern developing. I think all we need to do to find a great pass rusher is look for a guy who has a plain first name, and whose last name starts with an H and ends with a Y... and who scare people because they are insane.

Slam Dunk great player.

That was a great line.

I agree by the way.

Like you say, guys like him don't come around often. He's at minimum, at this rate, once in a decade type player.

You can't let a guy like this go, thinking you can replace him in the draft. Clowney was supposedly the next best thing and he's suppose to be playing next to Watt.... I haven't heard anything about him, if he's still not injured even..

Hardy, as a pure football player, is an absolute joy to watch. And what some don't pick up, the guy is one of the first to celebrate when his teammate makes a play. When the FG was blocked, Hardy was on the sidelines cheering Irving on. And he was actually on the same side as Irving, right next to him, pushing the OL and was himself a few inches away from the ball..

Are you kidding me? I love Hardy, but the BLASPHEMY you just uttered is ridiculous and so disrespectful to one of the greatest defensive players of all time. Ware was consistently dominant every single year. He was not only among the league leaders in sacks, but hits, pressures, and for a guy who supposably dissapeared in fourth quarters was always among the leaders in fourth quarter sacks as well. He did it over a long haul. Hardy has been terrific this year and had a great year in 2013 and a pretty good year in 2012. Not nearly the body of work that a DeMarcus Ware has had who has clearly revitalized his career in Denver and has been one of the most dominant defensive players in the game for nearly a decade. I can't believe how disrespected one of football's all time greats gets.

I can't like this post enough. Ware is a potential HoF player and we have posters who are acting like he was chump change. Teams had to account for Ware every play every game. No one took him one on one the whole game. LT's always had help otherwise sacks were given up. I love Hardy and I agree he is a different type player than Ware, but let's not act like Ware was nothing.

Yeah... no way does Dallas let him get away. They have no problem spending big on a pass rusher, much less a guy who rushes the passer but is so disruptive on every play.

Hardy will retire a Dallas Cowboy.

So far he has been a beast. I would get something going like what we had with Dez. Make sure he is going in the right direction off field. But we cant let him get away......

guy is a beast!!

Ware was a stats player. He had alot of sacks and thats it. Most of them came when we did not need them. Good player but no difference maker. He lacked the nastiness, disruptivness and dispapeard in important situations.

Never been a fan of Ware. Even if Spencer took most of the blame when we werent able to establish preasure i liked him alot more then Ware. I was celebrating when we let him go. We need nasty players on defense not players who know the dress code and act like top models.

Hardy is just the opposite. He is a mauler and can bring preasure when needed. It so much more difficult to bring preasure or being disruptive when everybody accounts for it then to get a sack when nobody really cares.

That's what you get when a player is on a contract year. Especially when he is a beast like Hardy is.
Hardy wants to get paid. If it's with the Cowboys or somewhere else.
