Gregory Injury Update

So who do you believe?

Posted in another thread that CJ came back strong last year from a HAS after missing 3 weeks and a bye and Jamaal Charles came back strong after missing a week. I'll believe the 6 week doomsday scenario when I see it.

Damn, and HA sprains have a high probability of reoccurring too. This will likely effect him all season. Week 5 can't get her soon enough for this DL.

Yeah, they do, which is why people say a break is better than a sprain long term, since it heals stronger. But I think the injury is a bigger concern for RB's and WR's with how they cut, Gregory was just in a freak position where someone stepped on his foot and he wasn't able to plant on the other one when he fell backwards. I'm sure they'll wrap it up good from now on

Randy has a special body. I'm not predicting he will heal faster than average, but it is not uncommon for elite athletes like himself to do so.

Yeah, I thought it was an Achilles and was a bit shocked because I just didn't see that as the narrative for this guy. He doesn't seem

Two weeks, four weeks, six weeks. None of them are doomsday scenarios. It's all good, he'll be back. That's the important thing.

Not all high ankle sprains are the same. Didn't Demarco Murray have to have a pin put in for his high ankle sprain a few years back? I know he lost a lot of playing time because of it.

Which ankle is it? Is it the primary ankle he pushes off with?

There is no need to rush the young man. Week 6 is bye week. I bet he'll be sidelined for 4 weeks and by the bye week he starts light work. By week 8 he'll be that situational pass rusher and increase it from there.

Bigger loss than Dez IMO. They can lean on the run game with Dez out nowhere to lean with no Gregory. The great news is both are not long term.

He has to be able to plant that foot with an OT pushing on him and turn the corner. It's a very significant injury for a DE, particularly one relying so heavily on speed and leverage. Obviously it's not a career issue or something that should follow him into next season or anything, I just think it will limit his ability possibly for the remainder of this season.

Then again, the guy is a freak athlete, he could come back good as new.

I think Rappaport is going with what the usual time frame is for high ankle sprains. Obviously the Jones' would have more info, maybe it's not as bad of a sprain as say TO had when he was here, and the return date more towards the '4 weeks' rather than 6+

I wonder if TO will let Hardy borrow his sleep chamber for a few weeks.

High ankle sprains are weird. Some guys can recover in 2 weeks, others need closer to 6. Ibuprofen and RICE that ankle Gregory and hopefully we'll have you back by the Patriots game. At worst, after the bye.

True.... I've had every imagined injury to my right ankle. Seriously, I was on crutches Monday & then playing Saturday. Each injury is so different, recovery time varies so great. Usually, the ligament ones are the ones that I dreaded most...

Broke all 3 bones....the Dez bone.... Probably sprained 30x over the years..... Been on crutches more than I want to know
