Can anyone speak to why Rousseau is so lightly regarded other than the fact he opted out this year?

Protoypical size/length (6’-6”, 265 lbs). He played as a true freshman in 2018 but got injured. His red-shirt freshman season he absolutely blew up:
19.5 TFL
15.5 sacks
2 FFs

I get the hesitation that he doesn’t have an extensive track record but he dominated when he did play. I’m much more intrigued him as a prospect having produced on the field versus a guy like Kwity Page that is supposed to be an uber athlete but hasn’t really dominated on the field.

Exactly Performance vs,Potential. I had him drafted to the Cowboys and the Peanut Gallery here does the same" No , I wouldn't pick him" and if it's not Penei Sewell ,I get nothing but Dead Air in a response. Rousseau,Pitts,TRADE DOWN,Parsons,etc... All these experts won't tell me who they want at #4 but they sure can say " No, I rather have mumble mumble". Who's that? " You know mumble mumble be better". WHO THE H@LL IS MUMBLE MUMBLE IS A BIG MYSTERY AT #4 for all these Mel Kiper and Todd McShay experts here.

Hard pass for me. He’s the most overrated prospect in the 1st round IMO and I think his stats are incredibly inflated.

I think he’s best suited to bulk up and play 3T. When watching him on the edge e has a limited tool box and doesn’t bend. He also had a fairly low number of pressures and win rate last year so the sack numbers are not sustainable.

Interesting.

I can see the 3tech david irving thing.

The first time I saw him I thought "David Irving" and then the ball was snapped and I watched him move and immediately thought "Taco Charlton". His movement skills are honestly comical at times. He looks like a 6' 2" guy that had a growth spurt he hasn't grown into and is now lanky and awkward. He looks like a tree trying to change direction.

Idk if any of you ever watch college basketball but sometimes there will be these 7 foot tall dudes that look awful when they're moving outside the paint but then they dominate under the rim because they're big. These guys often get drafted and ride pine in the NBA because they look goofy and outclassed against professional athletes, just slow and bumbly and awkward.

At this point, and especially if he tests remotely close to what is rumored, Kwity Paye is probably my edge 1. I think we're gonna watch him skyrocket up the board and get picked as high as 5 or 6 and no lower than 9 or 10. He's already climbing boards and people will drool over combine results remotely close to what's rumored.

I'm not an expert, @timb2 and others might hate everything I just said but I'm calling it now, Rousseau's career is gonna bust, Taco is his ceiling, and Paye is the edge to take if you're getting your pick of the litter.

Paye doesn’t do much for me either. Complete book or bust pick because his production doesn’t match the athleticism.

I think he looks good from what I’ve seen. He actually reminds me a lot of Randy Gregory. I think he’s a consideration if we pick 7-10. Anywhere before that (4-7) it’s probably Parsons or Surtain.

I can understand that, I don't worry about it personally because I feel like an NFL caliber coach will get it out of him. I also like Paye to develop well in the run game.

Surtain isnt sniffing a top 10 selection. Dont know why yall believe the hype.

Sure, could be...but I'm not touching a player in the top 10 HOPING he can develop with coaching. The closer you are to the top of the draft the closer you want to be to a sure thing.

I can see the 3tech david irving thing.
He reminds me a bit of Irving
But he’s a more raw talent
Like his potential but don’t see an immediate impact player
If we traded down adding another good pick I could see the logic but at 4-5 spot I think there are better options and we need a starter quality CB really bad so that’s a option as well as parsons to me
I love Sewell but don’t see him being there

I’m praying the Eagles take him

OK Mel , Rousseau had 15 1/2 sacks how many does Kwity Paye have this season? 2. Performance vs Potential.

To me he’s reminiscent of the Curtis Weaver kid out of Boise st some were mocking to us this time last year. Ultimately he ended up a 5th round pick by Miami, got cut and ended up on Cleveland’s IR. Looking like a tree trying to run is an apt description. Doesn’t bend, relies on a bull rush and his sacks come from coverage or pressure created by the other end!

Was about to drop a Taco reference as well till I saw this!

Honestly...Taco's tape was more impressive. He showed the ability to bend around the edge with great length and also had a high percentage win rate...he was just a bust.
