Gruden: "His confidence is contagious"

Gruden was really on to something early on when he ran Dak through his QB machine. I really think Dak's confidence is indeed a major factor in the success of our team this year. If you transplant him to the Eagles or even a team like the Rams, I really believe he would have raised the level of play around him in those environments as well.

Yes. I did it. I watched all 23 minutes again. He really exudes confidence and that is such a contagious thing. Gruden said another clairvoyant thing that really struck me.

"This guy is without a doubt the #1 dual threat quarterback in the draft". Bingo! Nailed.

One other thing that struck me is how hard Dak worked before his last year at MSU to "shake the stigma of being a running quarterback". He really wanted to show everyone that passing first was his forte. When questioned about his legs he simply stated that he can do that too if necessary. Man. . .

What an incredible young leader & we stole him from the draft. :flagwave:

Thanks for sharing it was awesome!!!

Comparing him to Donovan McNabb gave me pause, he's right unfortunately. Thankfully Dak is better.

Enjoyed this vid. Gruden does heap praise on guys but I thought he was very on point and astute here.

He's not right about the McNabb comp. But, to be fair to Gruden (whom I love), the comp was more there (still way off, tho) coming out of college.

Now, it's absurd. They share a similar frame, some legs, and ethnicity. That's it.

Well I commend you sir. I have no problem admitting I did the backstroke in the Manziel Kool aid.

Butterfly, breaststroke.. the whole nine.
Manziel had alot of skill. With him just hoped the partying was a college phase. It wasn't

I saw this back in PS, and is one reason I was high on prescott back then.
Gruden told him communication and command of the huddle was a key thing.
Dak has done very good in that area.

I enjoy those gruden segments.
Dak is indeed a very confident young man. Very cool under pressure so far...gotta luv it.

Regarding the "it factor", some may want to watch a few more of Gruden's segments. He says that a lot about his guests.

Also remember, he was beyond in love withj Johnny Manziel and his "it factor". he bashed very team that passed on him on draft day to a point where it was embarrassing.

Just let Dak be Dak and he'll be just fine.
In all fairness, Manziel WAS an excellent QB prospect. His life off the field was his undoing.

Post of the day. Thanks so much for posting this video, loved it, really appreciate you posting it. Dak really is something special, and how great is it that he'll be our quarterback for the next 10 years?

By the way, Jon Gruden also rocks. I like Garrett - but if Gruden ever comes back to coaching, he's going to make some team great.

Manziel's problem was not talent.

Yep, you don't win the freaking Heisman trophy with no talent. His problem was between the ears and apparently his alcohol/drug addiction.

But Dak is a tremendous natural leader with not only talent but an incredible amount of self confidence and work ethic that attracts his teammates. Ironically, Zeke is the same type of player. Put them both together and you get something magical. Amazing......:starspin:

Looking forward to the Monday Night game to hear Gruden.

I like him better than Buck or Collinsworth by a mile and you can't ever call him bias. He will be sure to rave about Zeke and Dak all night(probably the opposing team as well).

Gruden was on to some of what I KNEW about Dak 3 years prior to his QB camp. I have followed MSU my entire life very closely. I remember getting Dak out of HS when LSU wanted him BAD late in the process but he was already committed and stayed true to his word to go to MSU... Even with all the family pressure and his Mom telling him to go to LSU.

Anyway, MSU gets some highly rated recruits. The starter at the time was Tyler Russell who was blue chip recruit. He wasn't bad, but the very moment Dak stepped on the field from the first snap on you could see the OL, WR, Defense. Etc, ETc... ALL start to play with swagger... I mean TONS of it. Russell was a quiet and calm guy, who was capable, but the energy Dak brought was night and day compared to him.

I believe it was at Auburn, Dak's sophomore year, but Dak was a man among boys that entire game. I don't expect many here to understand, but getting to #1 in the country at MSU is about the equivalent to walking outside and getting struck by lightning on a sunny day. It doesn't happen... The whole time Dak was there however, there was not one single game where I thought we had no chance to win.

Anyway, from the first snap in preseason to now he is just doing what he has done the previous 3 years before the Cowboys got him. Only difference now is that he is on the biggest stage in all of sports. The folks who doubted him just didn't know him... But, they are learning now. I've seen so many of the best players ever play by watching SEC football religiously. Again, Dak is the best I've ever seen play the game. Dallas got truly lucky to get him, but im glad hes here.

My favorite Dak story... We were at LSU absolutely dominating them. I believe it was 21-6 at halftime. Second half started Dak threw a pass in the flat, WR fumbled and LSU ran it in for a TD. The crowd was going nuts at night in Death Valley and EVERY MSU fan knew it was over at that time. Dak went up and down the sidelines getting in his teammates faces. Next possession, drives right down for a TD like it was nothing. Crowd was in complete disbelief. I learned at that moment in time that there is nothing on the football field that would rattle him or his teammates. Does this sound like the Dallas Cowboys now?

I have no inclination to doubt what Gruden says about Dak. If Gruden didn't think he was a special guy, he more than likely wouldn't have wanted him to make an appearance on his show to begin with. Dak has proven himself worthy of admiration in every game he's played in college and this season as well in pro ball. I'm confident he's going to keep it up, barring a decline of immense proportions. In short, he's a keeper and then some.

Who wasn't raving about Manziel?

And truth be told, maybe Manziel could have been a great to solid QB??? We will never know though because he'd rather do kegstands than throw touchdowns. Whatever, that's his forte. I'm just glad the Boys didn't waste their time figuring that out for themselves.

I agree, Zeke is a special talent as well and he WINS. They are dominating the NFL as ROOKIES. Let that sink in...

Thanks for sharing that story. Yeah. That sounds exactly like our Boys. He just makes everyone around him better and a person like that doesn't come around very often. I have to pinch myself every day. Is this real?

Im honestly somewhat surprised no one has taken a chance on him considering the talent level at QB in the NFL. I watched him a few times lastbyear, and while he still wasnt great you could see it coming together for him on the field.

But like Greg Hardy, when your toxic no amount of ability is enough

He is truly the textbook depiction of a walking train wreck. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole.
