Jeb knows how to bite. When we play fetch, I always have to watch where I stick my hand (since he never lets go of the squeaky toy, I have to pull it from his mouth) because he doesn't have good bite inhibition and will break skin even though he doesn't mean to.

After dealing with 120lb pitbull for over 10 years small dogs don't scare me. :laugh2:

lol! Don't you know it's always the ones you least expect? Just watch Victoria Stillwell's show "It's me or the dog" (I think), and you can see they come in all sizes and shape :)

But, bostons have originally been breed to be companion dogs anyway.

Pardon me Rainbow Brite, but where exactly did I mention 'lazy' in the comment you've quoted here. Oh yeah, I didn't.

...and lazy is lazy, derogatory or not, it is what it is. If you take offense to people even mentioning the term, you've got more sand in your ****** than a beached whale.

So

How would I take offense to someone calling someone who didn't have a Boxer lazy? This thread isn't about me. It's about someone's mother and their next dog. I think Rainbow Brite is in your own avatar Tommy;)

Lets move on shall we? Im pullin for ya!

If I chopped my German Shepherd in half, he'd be less than 50 pounds and he's a hell of an alert dog.

But then you'd have a dog scraping at the linoleum trying to get an intruder. Oh no's-it's a 1/2 breed Germ Shep!

Wow, we have had extreme opposite experiences with Bassetts. We have a bassett and a lab. The bassett is basically a 50 lb paper weight that costs a ton. She has had constant reoccurring ear infections since we got her, we just spent $1000 trying to get them cured. She is dumb as a rock and probably most annoying is they are stubborn as hell. You can call her and she will just stand there and look at ya, won't come to ya or anything. You can tell her 10 times to come in the house and she won't. Then 2 minutes after you close the door she is there scratching. ARRGH! A very aggravating breed IMO. Now, they do bark at any little thing and you will definitely hear it when they do. It is just about as loud a bark as any dog on earth. The cons though outweigh the pros with bassets, at lease in my case.

You sure your bassett isn't inbred? Not saying that to be an ***, I'm serious.

I have a German Spitz - Its similar to a European Pomeranian but bigger. They call the smaller "toy" dogs yappers. They are

Because for decades the spitz in Northern Europe were trained watch dogs. They were trained to guard, and NOTHING gets anywhere near my property without setting my dog off.

No could he fend off an intruder at 25 pounds - NO but he'd alert the hell out of the house where Smith & Wesson would end that nonsense.

Under 50 pounds is tough. Boxers are very loyal and make great guard dogs, but about 10 pounds too big.

How about an English bulldog? Right about the correct weight.

#1 Guard dog IMO, I have, 3 of em. Smart, and a great family dog too.

A Boxer also won that reality TV show called something like "Worlds Greatest Dog." Well deserved too!
