Gurode was a sluggard the whole game. He seemed disoriented, what with this and the late snaps and not snapping the ball at all when Romo was calling for it.

He has practically been one of the best centers in the league since that day. He's a beast. Just was really damn lazy that play.

I love how screaming at someone makes you a leader.

What would happen if Gurode went and screamed at TO the next time he drops a ball that hits him in the hands?

I agree, whistle hadn't blown, ball on the ground...fall on the ball!

I was sitting in the nose bleed section and even the folks around us said "He just stood there!"

our view...and it looked like he just stood there.

Dropping a ball is one thing. Having a mental collapse like Gurode did is something else.......

It is that simple.

I didn't know what to make of this when it went down. I hate sideline dissenion/antics, but TO might have a point.

Really. When i whatched the game i was also like "what the heck is he doing". but then you don't know were he was looking even if his helemt and his head position is pointing towards the ball.

but then again maybe gurode just went braindead who knows :laugh2:

I just can't imagine he did this on purpose.

You didn't know that, CL? That's part of the leadership handbook.

  • Call people out to the press. Doesn't have to be Denny Green-style, but Jim Mora would do.
  • Show some fire on the field after a random play.
  • Chew players out on the sideline when they screw up.
  • Act angry in front of the press in order to show accountability.
I'm sure there's more, but I'll stop there for now...

Really? I thought it was:

1.) Have an excuse for every bad play
2.) Act like everything is OK no matter what
3.) Circle the wagon and defend your players no matter what
4.) Show loyalty to your assistants even if it means your own job
5.) Just keep repeating 13-3

An equal caricature of the opposite of the caricature you described.

I would buy an Andre Gurode jersey before the end of the game.

Seriously.

Finally someone who gets it. Question may be why he didn't see it but one play does not a career make.

I agree with you completely. Gurode is actually very smart and calls the OL well. Why he's not snapping the ball at times mystifies me. Maybe he's hard of hearing or too worried about what the DL is doing and what calls to make.

Don't know but he's the best center this team has had in awhile.

He also frequently loses track of when to snap the ball. He may not be a dumb arse but surely he does not concentrate as much as he should in a game.
