***Gurode released*** MERGED

Out with the old and in with the New .. Based on the way the Boy's have been running the ball in the preseason - I say this is a good thing.. Seems like the young guys on the Oline can ball .. You have to develop the young guys - Get back to the "Cowboy Way " -

Rebuild the OLINE now - then Major rebuilding of the DLine to come next year

Get strong in both trenches and we are set .. we have the offensive skill positions locked down with elite talent ..

I will also argue that we have very strong LB talent if the D-line can hold the point of attack. :starspin

I can see the headlines on BSPN now:

8/29/11 "Cowboys release C Gurode over money and diminishing skills. Youth movement in full effect"

8/30/11 "Eagles swoop on yet another big name FA, solidify Super Bowl hopes by adding recently released all-pro C Gurode. Should Dallas have re-thought strategy?"

Jason G. is not playing around. A youth movement is happening and I like it. I wonder how much this saves Dallas cap wise?

No more "entitlement."

You have to EARN a spot on this team and not the field.

I have mixed feelings. I love that we are getting away from the big slow fat guys (Davis/Gurode), but we are going awful young awful quick. It may bode well fort the future, but for this year having 3 starters with little or no NFL experience may seriously jeopardize the ability of the offense to move the ball consistently.

So.... our 9/11 starting O-Line is Free/Nagy/Kowalski or Costa/Smith/Kosier???

Norm on the Ticket just said Igor and Holland next. His opinion only. Well, one can hope.

Also: This affair screams Stephen J and Garrett moves. I.E. they are large and in charge of strategic moves. Sounds good to me.

Well, to a certain extent. What this should tell people is that we are in MUCH better shape on our offensive line than we are at other positions, namely, MLB. I have a feeling we are going to be on the lookout for help at that position over the next couple of weeks in a big time way, cutting Gurode just gives us a bit more flexiblilty cap-wise to make such moves.

But trust me, not cutting a guy like Brooking isn't because the team is happy with the position, it's because we are so thin right there it isn't even funny.

me too... great message to send through out the team...work hard get rewarded...don't and its bye-bye

I don't mean to pick out your post, because many people have said this the last several days. But since it's in this thread... When was it established that Gurode didn't work hard? I've never heard that.

I remember years ago when Ryan Young retired and was on local radio a lot the following year. That was when Gurode was struggling at guard for Parcells, making a lot of mistakes. Someone asked him what he thought Gurode's problem was, and he said it was hard to put a finger on, because he was smart and worked very hard in the weight room and on the field.

Maybe age just caught up with him, but I don't see why we have to make these guys out to be bums when we cut them.

Really ballsy move here. We'll have to wait and see how it pans out. I hope Costa can get the job done, but I'm skeptical to say the least.

Why are you laughing? You honestly don't think Hamlin would have been better back there than Alan Ball?

I'd have much rather had Hamlin last year. Maybe that's just me.

that would be a good thing not a bad thing

It is? I don't think Andre is a terrible Center. I don't see how helping Philly's O-Line is ever a good thing.

Now maybe we'll exploit him and beat him up if they do pick him up and that would be great too but a pretty solid Center, playing with a chip on his shoulder against us, doesn't exactly excite me.

But I understand the cut, I don't really have any issue with it other than I liked that we seemed to be pretty deep on the O-Line now and I didn't really want to lose any of that. But people far smarter than I am are making these decisions and I trust their knowledge over my own.

Did anyone see this much change coming this quickly in the preseason? Columbo? Definitely. Bigg Davis? Probably. Gurode? Didn't see it coming this year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Igor go but I don't think Holland goes anywhere now.
